HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Rev. Fredrick E. Wilson
4Sr. on the occasion of his retirement and recognize his
5distinguished career as a minister; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rev. Wilson was born and raised in East St. Louis;
7he attended East St. Louis public schools and graduated in June
8of 1966 from East St. Louis Senior High School, where he served
9as class president; he further matriculated at Southern
10Illinois University, graduating with honors with a major in
11speech communication and a minor in philosophy; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rev. Wilson managed P. N. Hirsch in East St. Louis
13and Dollar General department stores, where he employed many
14adults and gave countless youths their first job; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Rev. Wilson served the East St. Louis community
16well as president of the East St. Louis Downtowners
17Association, secretary of the East St. Louis Chamber of
18Commerce, and served as a board member of East St. Louis School
19District #189 for six years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rev. Wilson was called to the ministry in 1976 at
21Macedonia Alliance in East St. Louis; his first pastoral

1assignment was in 1979 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in
2Centreville; in 1982, he became pastor of his childhood church,
3Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis, where
4he served as pastor for 16 years; in 1996, he organized the
5Greater Faith Christian Church in Centreville; he currently
6serves as senior pastor of the Greater New Mt. Eagle Missionary
7Baptist Church in Chicago; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In April of 2007, the Fredrick E. Wilson Sr.
9Christian Education School was named in Rev. Wilson's honor;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rev. Wilson served as Baptist Youth Fellowship
12Director, Director General, and Congress President in the
13oldest Baptist District Association in America, the Wood River
14Baptist District Association; he currently serves as 1st Vice
15President of the Greater New Era District Congress of Christian
16Education; and
 
17    WHEREAS, For 41 years, Rev. Wilson has spread the Gospel
18and carried out the Great Commission as a gifted organist,
19pianist, musical director, and an outstanding vocalist;
20therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
22HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1congratulate Rev. Fredrick E. Wilson Sr. on his retirement and
2recognize his distinguished career as a minister, and we wish
3him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to Rev. Wilson as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
