    Amends the Adoption Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the order for standby adoption.

1    AN ACT concerning civil law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Adoption Act is amended by changing Section
513.1 as follows:
 
6    (750 ILCS 50/13.1)
7    Sec. 13.1. Order for standby adoption.
8    (a) If it is proved to the the satisfaction of the court,
9after such investigation as the court deems necessary, that the
10child's parent consents to or fails to object to the standby
11adoption and adoption by the petitioner will be for the welfare
12of the child, the court may enter an order for standby
13adoption. However, the consenting parent's parental rights may
14not be terminated until consent becomes effective.
15    (b) The order for standby adoption shall be final as to all
16findings and shall be followed in the judgment of adoption
17unless the court finds by clear and convincing evidence that it
18is no longer in the best interest of the child for the adoption
19to be finalized.
20    (c) Once the standby adoptive parent receives knowledge of
21the death of the consenting parent, or the consenting parent
22requests that a final judgment for adoption be entered, the
23standby adoptive parent shall have 60 days to apply for a
