HOUSE RESOLUTION 117
Offered by Representative Bill Mitchell:
WHEREAS, The members of this Body are happy to recognize
individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the well-being
of the citizens of this State; and
WHEREAS, Mary Lou Tallman has announced her retirement after 48
years of service from the First Federal Savings & Loan; and
WHEREAS, She has held the position of Chief Executive Officer and
Secretary-Treasurer of the Savings & Loan; and
WHEREAS, She is a member of the First United Methodist Church and
the American Red Cross; and
WHEREAS, She has been supported throughout her public and private
career by her husband, Warren, and her children, David Tallman and
Vicki Hubner; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIRST
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish to
congratulate Mary Lou Tallman on her retirement from First Federal
Savings & Loan and wish her good luck in the future; and be it

HOUSE RESOLUTION 119
Offered by Representative Schmitz:
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives
wish to express their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of
William G. McConnaughay, who passed away on February 28, 1999; and
WHEREAS, William McConnaughay was born in Mount Vernon, Illinois,
on October 30, 1928; his parents were James and Florence Bowling
McConnaughay; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McConnaughay was a veteran of the Korean War, where
he served in the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McConnaughay was the owner of McConnaughay
Properties of Geneva; he was also involved in other family
businesses, including Geneva Bottling Works and Geneva Home Works;
and
WHEREAS, William McConnaughay is survived by his wife, Rosemary;
his son, John (Karen) McConnaughay; his daughters, Catherine (Glenn)
Cushing, Janet (Kenneth) Smudde, and Margaret Milnamow; his
grandchildren, Christopher, Kate, Courtney, Garrett, Sean, Madeline,
and Catherine; his brothers, James (Margaret) McConnaughay, Terry
(Rocadella) McConnaughay, Glenn (Mary) McConnaughay, Paul (Lois)
McConnaughay, and Ron (Anne) McConnaughay; his sisters, Isabelle
Fisher, and Norma (Elliott) Lundberg; and many nieces and nephews;

HOUSE RESOLUTION 120
Offered by Representative Schmitz:
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives
wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
of Leslie "Les" Hodge, who passed away on February 26, 1999; and
WHEREAS, Les Hodge was born in Waltonville, Illinois, on December
31, 1924; his parents were Guy and Ethel May Hodge; he was united in
marriage to Melba V. Jensen on June 25, 1947, in St. Charles,
Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Les Hodge was a veteran of the second World War, where
he served in the United States Air Force in the South Pacific; Les
Hodge retired as a lieutenant volunteer firefighter with the Batavia
Fire Department in 1970; and
WHEREAS, Les Hodge will be remembered for his coverage of Batavia
High School sports as a sports writer for the Batavia Herald and the
Kane County Chronicle; he was elected into the Illinois Basketball
Coaches Hall of Fame in 1989 for his writing and his devotion to high
school athletics; and
WHEREAS, Les Hodge was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in
Batavia; and
WHEREAS, Les Hodge is survived by his four children, Janis (Jeff)
Graffagna, Gerald (Lisa) Hodge, Gregg (Nancy) Hodge, and Sandra (Bob)
Wagner; his grandchildren, Erin, Mallory, Christopher, Jaclyn,
Kelsey, Ben, Steven, Kevin, Jay, Samantha, and Douglas; his sister,
Myrtle Petrosky; his brother, Ronald (Theresa) Hodge; his friend,
Steve Marshall; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIRST
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, with
