Biography: Senator Plummer and his family live in Edwardsville where he serves as vice president of R.P. Lumber and R.P. Home and Harvest, family owned and operated businesses with over 100 locations throughout Illinois and six other states. Sen. Plummer is also active in other businesses spanning multiple industries, including real estate, hospitality, technology, agriculture, and banking. He also enjoys participating in numerous civic organizations and non-profits. Sen. Plummer is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and first answered the call to serve as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Senator Plummer joined the ranks of Republican lawmakers in 2019, having been elected to serve as the state Senator for the 54th Senate District. The 54th State Senate District encompasses all or portions of Bond, Clinton, Effingham, Fayette, Madison, Marion, St. Clair, and Washington Counties. It stretches from Edwardsville to Effingham, covering suburbs of St. Louis and historic rural communities, including Vandalia, Illinois’ previous capitol city. The 54th District is home to over 200,000 people. Senator Plummer was named as Assistant Republican Leader in the Senate Republican Leadership Team for the 102nd General Assembly, beginning in 2021. He also serves as the Minority Spokesperson for the Senate Financial Institutions Committee as well the Minority Spokesperson for the Executive Appointments Committee. Plummer will also serve as a member of the Commerce, Environment & Conservation, Health, Labor, and Behavioral & Mental Health committees during the current General Assembly.
