SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Kenneth Chisholm Bennett of Lake Forest, 
4who passed away on December 11, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Kenneth Bennett was born on March 28, 1927 and 
6raised in Highland Park; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Kenneth Bennett was an English professor at Lake 
8Forest College for almost 40 years; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Kenneth Bennett published a book on Shakespeare 
10Sonnets; he and his wife enjoyed spending his sabbaticals in 
11London, England; he enjoyed Bridge tournaments, where he 
12reached the rank of Life Master; he was an accomplished artist, 
13working in pastels and watercolors, and exhibited his work 
14locally; he also was extremely fond of the opera; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Kenneth Bennett was preceded in death by his wife 
16of 59 years, Doris "DJ" Jean; his parents, Kenneth and  Rowena; 
17and his sister, Carol (Joseph) Carnes; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Kenneth Bennett is survived by his son, Bruce 
19(Patricia); his daughter, Lise;  his grandchildren, Elliot 
20(Amanda), Dustin, Annie, and Molly; his great-grandchildren,

1Stella and Aiden; and his sister, Bonnie (John) Korngiebel; 
2therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
5Kenneth Chisholm Bennett, and extend our sincere condolences to 
6his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to  the family of  Kenneth Bennett as an expression of 
10our deepest sympathy.
