SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William Dalrymple "Dal" Frost of Lake
4Forest, who passed away on January 1, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Frost was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota
6to Katherine N. Dalrymple and Jerome S. Frost on December 31,
71926 and grew up in Wayzata, Minnesota; he was drafted into the
8United States Army during the closing days of World War II and
9was deployed to Munich, Germany, serving with the Rainbow
10Division, 3rd Military Government for Bavaria, where he
11assisted with the repatriation of displaced persons from Dachau
12and other area concentration camps; he was discharged as a
13Sergeant at Fort Sheridan in 1946; he married Mary Bannerman in
141953; and
 
15    WHEREAS, William Frost and a friend bought a surplus army
16ambulance and drove from Minneapolis to Alaska on the Alaska
17Canadian Highway, the first year it was opened to civilians
18after the war; he spent a year working in Anchorage as a
19laborer; and
 
20    WHEREAS, William Frost returned to Minnesota and began a
21lifelong career in the newsprint sales business, starting with
22Minnesota Ontario Paper in 1950; he moved to the Chicago area

1in 1953 and worked for the Great Lakes Paper; he retired as
2President of the Canadian Pacific Newsprint Division; and
 
3    WHEREAS, William Frost served on the Board of Directors of
4NICASA, ChildServ, Hazelton, Youth Communications, and the
5Bannerman Foundation; he was a member of Onwentsia Club for 57
6years and a longtime member of the Anglers Club of Chicago; he
7loved spending time with his family in northern Wisconsin,
8visiting his extended family in California, and spending time
9with Bill W., his friend of over 45 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, William Frost and his wife enjoyed traveling
11together, visiting Alaska, Europe, Africa, the Middle East,
12China, Southeast Asia, and South America; he was active in his
13community and helped many people in need; and
 
14    WHEREAS, William Frost was preceded in death by his wife of
15nearly 62 years, Mary; and
 
16    WHEREAS, William Frost is survived by his children,
17Katherine "Katie" (David) Frost Bibbs, and Will Frost (JoEllen
18Lottsfeldt); his grandchildren, Mary and Will Bibbs, and Sophie
19Frost; and his sister, Diane Wick; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1William Dalrymple "Dal" Frost, and extend our sincere
2condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
3him; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of William Frost as an expression of
6our deepest sympathy.
