|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Rudolph "Rudy" Mahalik Sr. of Joliet, who |
4 | | passed away on December 14, 2016 at the age of 95; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Mahalik Sr. was born in Joliet where he |
6 | | remained a lifelong resident; he was a veteran of the United |
7 | | States Navy serving in the South Pacific on the USS Savo Island |
8 | | aircraft carrier as a weatherman during World War II; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Mahalik Sr. was the retired owner of |
10 | | Poehner, Dillman and Mahalik Plumbing Heating and Cooling; he |
11 | | was a member of the Joliet Rotary Club, a former member of the |
12 | | Joliet Noon Lions Club, and a founding member of Crime Stoppers |
13 | | of Will County; he served on the Board of Easter Seals, Joliet |
14 | | City Center Partnership, St. Patrick's Retirement Home, and |
15 | | Crisis Line of Will County; he was president of the Plumbing |
16 | | and Mechanical Contractors Association, and founder and |
17 | | President of the Joliet Eastside Business organization; he also |
18 | | served on various City of Joliet commissions including the |
19 | | Joliet Plan Committee and the Joliet Economic Development |
20 | | Committee; he was honored by the Joliet City Council with the |
21 | | Citizen of the Year Award and by the City of Joliet with a |
22 | | section of Scott Street being named "Rudy Mahalik Way"; he was |
23 | | inducted in the Joliet Project Pride and received the 2008 |

1 | | Joliet Area Historical Society Preservation Award and the Lewis |
2 | | University De La Salle Award; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Mahalik Sr. was preceded in death by his |
4 | | wife, Isabelle Mahalik; his parents, Michael and Mary (Kucavik) |
5 | | Mahalik; and eight siblings, Mary, Ann (Charles) Wibirt, |
6 | | Josephine, Joseph (Florence), Amelia, Ambrose (Mildred), |
7 | | Frank, and Raymond (Lorraine); and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Mahalik Sr. is survived by his three sons, |
9 | | Rudy (Gerry) Mahalik Jr., Tom Mahalik, and Mark (Hua) Mahalik; |
10 | | his grandchildren, Cathy (Tim) Lindeman, and Jake (Serina) |
11 | | Mahalik; his great-grandchildren, Isabella and Mason Lindeman; |
12 | | his step great-grandchildren, Tayler and Tyler Lindeman; his |
13 | | brother, Edward (the late Marian) Mahalik; and his numerous |
14 | | nieces, nephews, and godchildren; therefore, be it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
17 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Rudolph "Rudy" Mahalik |
18 | | Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, |
19 | | and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Rudolph Mahalik Sr. as an expression |
22 | | of our deepest sympathy.
