2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Jim Mamer of East Peoria, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on November 28, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was born in Mt. Vernon to James C. and | ||||||
6 | Doris Stevens Mamer on August 11, 1947; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Streator High School in 1965 and from Midstate College; he | ||||||
8 | served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Gurke during | ||||||
9 | the Vietnam War; he attended the Illinois Bankers School of | ||||||
10 | Southern Illinois University and the Graduate School of Banking | ||||||
11 | in Madison, Wisconsin; he married Lynn Ferguson at St. Stephen | ||||||
12 | Church in Streator on May 4, 1968; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was President and CO-CEO of the Morton | ||||||
14 | Community Bank; he loved East Peoria and dedicated his life to | ||||||
15 | making it a better place to live; he was instrumental in the | ||||||
16 | development of the Levee District, the Eastside Center, | ||||||
17 | Par-A-Dice, the East Peoria Festival of Lights, Leisure Acres, | ||||||
18 | and the Jaycees fireworks show; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was an active volunteer and served his | ||||||
20 | community in many ways, including as a member of the OSF | ||||||
21 | Foundation Board, the Rotary, and the East Peoria Foundation; | ||||||
22 | he was a charter member and former President of Kiwanis, and a |

1 | member of the Jaycees and the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce; | ||||||
2 | he served as Fond du Lac Park District Commissioner and as | ||||||
3 | Treasurer for several school districts; he was recognized for | ||||||
4 | his efforts in founding the Fond du Lac Banking Center and was | ||||||
5 | also the recipient of the Business Person of the Year in 1983; | ||||||
6 | and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer belonged to several car clubs and had a | ||||||
8 | great appreciation for collecting and showing Model A Fords; he | ||||||
9 | loved fishing and hunting at the lake house, which he also | ||||||
10 | enjoyed sharing with family and friends; he was a member of St. | ||||||
11 | Monica's Church in East Peoria; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was preceded in death by his parents and | ||||||
13 | his mother and father-in-law, Jack and Mary Ferguson; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Jim Mamer is survived by his wife, Lynn; his sons, | ||||||
15 | Michael (Lisa) Mamer, and Matthew (Heidi) Mamer; his | ||||||
16 | grandchildren, Makayla, Hunter, Kyah, Peyton, and Logan Mamer; | ||||||
17 | his sister, Diane (Alan) Bressner; his brother, Steven (Pam) | ||||||
18 | Mamer; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Cindy (Steve) | ||||||
19 | Francisko, and Mark (Patty) Ferguson; and many nieces, nephews, | ||||||
20 | great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
22 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |

1 | Jim Mamer, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
2 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
4 | presented to the family of Jim Mamer as an expression of our | ||||||
5 | deepest sympathy.
