SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jim Mamer of East Peoria, who passed away
4on November 28, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was born in Mt. Vernon to James C. and
6Doris Stevens Mamer on August 11, 1947; he graduated from
7Streator High School in 1965 and from Midstate College; he
8served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Gurke during
9the Vietnam War; he attended the Illinois Bankers School of
10Southern Illinois University and the Graduate School of Banking
11in Madison, Wisconsin; he married Lynn Ferguson at St. Stephen
12Church in Streator on May 4, 1968; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was President and CO-CEO of the Morton
14Community Bank; he loved East Peoria and dedicated his life to
15making it a better place to live; he was instrumental in the
16development of the Levee District, the Eastside Center,
17Par-A-Dice, the East Peoria Festival of Lights, Leisure Acres,
18and the Jaycees fireworks show; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was an active volunteer and served his
20community in many ways, including as a member of the OSF
21Foundation Board, the Rotary, and the East Peoria Foundation;
22he was a charter member and former President of Kiwanis, and a

1member of the Jaycees and the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce;
2he served as Fond du Lac Park District Commissioner and as
3Treasurer for several school districts; he was recognized for
4his efforts in founding the Fond du Lac Banking Center and was
5also the recipient of the Business Person of the Year in 1983;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jim Mamer belonged to several car clubs and had a
8great appreciation for collecting and showing Model A Fords; he
9loved fishing and hunting at the lake house, which he also
10enjoyed sharing with family and friends; he was a member of St.
11Monica's Church in East Peoria; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jim Mamer was preceded in death by his parents and
13his mother and father-in-law, Jack and Mary Ferguson; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jim Mamer is survived by his wife, Lynn; his sons,
15Michael (Lisa) Mamer, and Matthew (Heidi) Mamer; his
16grandchildren, Makayla, Hunter, Kyah, Peyton, and Logan Mamer;
17his sister, Diane (Alan) Bressner; his brother, Steven (Pam)
18Mamer; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Cindy (Steve)
19Francisko, and Mark (Patty) Ferguson; and many nieces, nephews,
20great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Jim Mamer, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
2friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Jim Mamer as an expression of our
5deepest sympathy.
