|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Angel Melendez of Zion, who passed away |
4 | | on November 11, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Angel Melendez was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico |
6 | | to Felix and Ana (Alvarez) Melendez on December 20, 1951 and |
7 | | was a lifelong resident of Lake County; he attended Maryville |
8 | | Academy in Des Plaines and graduated from Waukegan Township |
9 | | High School in 1969; he entered the military in 1970, where he |
10 | | served two years in the United States Marine Corps, and |
11 | | received an honorable discharge; he continued his service as a |
12 | | member of the Marine Corps Reserve for four years; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Angel Melendez was employed by the Veterans |
14 | | Administration of North Chicago and the Ann Kiley Center; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Angel Melendez received the Veterans |
16 | | Administration Performance Award and a Certificate of |
17 | | Nomination from the American Legion; he received many other |
18 | | accolades; he was an AMVETS Life Member; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Angel Melendez enjoyed riding his motorcycle, |
20 | | spending time with his dog, Minnie, and working out at the VA; |
21 | | he loved God, his family, and listening to the oldies; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Angel Melendez was preceded in death by his |
2 | | father, Felix; his brothers, Isaac and Eladeo; and his sisters, |
3 | | Porfiria and Martha; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Angel Melendez is survived by his wife, Anna Maria |
5 | | (Nieves) Melendez; his daughters, Hilda Quinones (Jesse D.), |
6 | | and Annette; his sons, Michael, and Gabriel Graham; his |
7 | | grandchildren, Lisette, Jesse, Yvette, and Julian Quinones, |
8 | | and Taylor, Avery, Emma, Kendall, and Elliott Graham; his |
9 | | great-grandchildren, Devin, Arian, and Jesse III; his mother, |
10 | | Ana; his siblings, Carmen, Santo (Mary), Freddy (Julie), Rose |
11 | | Staben (Milton D.), and Ada; and numerous nieces, nephews, and |
12 | | several greats; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Angel Melendez, and extend our sincere condolences to his |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
17 | | further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Angel Melendez as an expression of |
20 | | our deepest sympathy.
