2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Sergeant Douglas J. Riney of Fairview, |
4 | | who passed away on October 19, 2016 from wounds received after |
5 | | encountering hostile enemy forces in Kabul, Afghanistan; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney was born on July 29, 1990 at |
7 | | Fort Stewart, Georgia; his parents were Dave and Pam Chabotte |
8 | | Riney; he married Kylie Eddy on December 29, 2012 in |
9 | | Farmington; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney was a graduate of Spoon River |
11 | | Valley High School; he was also a member of the Vintage Church |
12 | | in Texas and a proud volunteer firefighter of the Fairview Fire |
13 | | Department; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney entered active duty service in |
15 | | July of 2012 as a petroleum supply specialist; he was assigned |
16 | | to the Support Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry |
17 | | Division out of Fort Hood, Texas since December of 2012; he had |
18 | | previously deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom |
19 | | from July of 2014 to February of 2015 and in support of |
20 | | Operation Freedom's Sentinel from June of 2016 to October of |
21 | | 2016; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney was the recipient of numerous |
2 | | awards and decorations, including the Purple Heart, the Bronze |
3 | | Star, the Army Commendation Medal, four Army Achievements |
4 | | Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense |
5 | | Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with three |
6 | | campaign stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the |
7 | | Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the |
8 | | Army Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney was an avid Green Bay Packers |
10 | | fan; he was a BMX bicycle rider who earned many awards and |
11 | | trophies; he enjoyed riding his motorcycle; he also loved to |
12 | | hunt and fish; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney is survived by his children, |
14 | | Elea and James Riney; his father, Dave (Kristie) Riney; his |
15 | | mother, Pam (Don) Boland; his siblings, Jeff Budd and Stacey |
16 | | (Ashley Ayers) Budd; his nieces and nephews, Cailee Budd, |
17 | | Kambell, Payton, Avari, and Asher McDermet, and Kinsley Brown; |
18 | | his stepbrothers, Bryce and Kole Vaughn; his stepsister, Ashlie |
19 | | Herrin; his grandmothers, Nancy Riney and Linda Huntley; his |
20 | | mother-in-law and father-in-law, Randal and Donna Eddy; his |
21 | | sisters-in-law, Brandi Eddy and Janel (Doug) Brown; and many |
22 | | aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
