|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Bert D. Carlson of Rock Island, who |
4 | | passed away on October 24, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Bert Carlson was born on June 28, 1925 in Galva; |
6 | | his parents were Clyde C. and Ethel Griggs Carlson; he married |
7 | | Gladys J. Clure on November 12, 1950 at Central Presbyterian |
8 | | Church in Rock Island; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Bert Carlson worked as a procurement officer for |
10 | | the Rock Island Arsenal for 33 years until his retirement in |
11 | | 1982; he also worked for Case IH for three years and taught |
12 | | students to play the organ; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Bert Carlson proudly served in the United States |
14 | | Navy as a Ship's Cook, Third Class during World War II; he was |
15 | | honorably discharged in 1945 and later became a member of |
16 | | Moline American Legion Post 246; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Bert Carlson was an active member of First United |
18 | | Presbyterian Church and Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, |
19 | | where he was a choir member for many years; he was also a |
20 | | member of Davenport Moose Lodge No. 28 and Quad City Organist |
21 | | Society; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Bert Carlson enjoyed playing the organ for private |
2 | | parties and for Friendship Manor; he also liked cooking, |
3 | | dancing, decorating the outdoors for Christmas, and working |
4 | | outdoors; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Bert Carlson was preceded in death by his parents; |
6 | | his daughter, Karen Lynn Carlson; and his brothers, Curtis |
7 | | Carlson and Richard Carlson; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Bert Carlson is survived by his wife, Gladys |
9 | | Carlson; his daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Todd |
10 | | Vandersnick and Julie and Bruce Romero; his grandchildren, |
11 | | Orterio Villa, Scott Villa, Jeremy Romero, Bethany and Idris |
12 | | Okere, and Caitlin Vandersnick; his sister-in-law, Rose |
13 | | Carlson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be |
14 | | it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
17 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Bert D. Carlson; and |
18 | | be it further
|
19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Bert Carlson as an expression of our |
21 | | sympathy.
