SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Tanya Lynette "Tan" Sanford, who passed
4away on October 12, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tanya Sanford was born in Centreville to Richard
6Jr. and Fannie (Tally) Bolden on December 4, 1972; she grew up
7in East St. Louis and was educated in East St. Louis School
8District 189; she was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist
9Church, where she was in the Sunshine Band and a youth usher;
10she was awarded a 1987-1988 Certificate of Merit from Who's Who
11Among American High School Students and graduated from Lincoln
12Senior High in 1990; she married Carlos Sanford on July 20,
131996 and they lived in Belleville, before moving to O'Fallon;
14she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1996 and a Master of Language
15Arts in 1998 from Western Illinois University in Macomb; and
 
16    WHEREAS, From 1997 to 1999, Tanya Sanford was employed by
17the Madison School District; for the last 16 years, she worked
18in School District 189 at the Vivian D. Adams Early Childhood
19Center; she also worked part-time for the RehabCare and Kindred
20Hospital Rehabilitation Services as a speech-language
21pathologist; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Tanya Sanford was a member of Victory Church St.

1Louis in Cahokia; she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta
2Sorority, where she was initiated into the Epsilon XI Chapter
3and was an active member of the East St. Louis chapter; she
4served as secretary for the East St. Louis Chapter of Jack and
5Jill of America, Incorporated; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Tanya Sanford was preceded in death by her
7maternal grandparents, Margaret and Milton Tally Sr., and her
8paternal grandparents, Richard Sr. and Mamie (Clayborne)
9Bolden; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tanya Sanford is survived by her husband of 20
11years, Carlos Sr.; her sons, Carlos Jr. "CJ" and Tyler; her
12parents; her sister, Francea Bolden; her aunts, Diane (Hollis)
13Bolden Taylor, Pamela Bolden, Margaret Marie Tally, Dolores
14(James) Johnson, and Beverly Tally; her uncles, Milton (Sharon)
15Tally, Roderick Bolden, Arlington (Emily) Tally, Bennie
16(Tamara) Tally, Otis (Tina) Tally, Frederick Tally, and Michael
17(Janet) Tally; her mother-in-law, Bettye Sanford; her
18brothers-in-law, the Rev. Donald (Cheryl) Sanford, Louis
19(Gail) Sanford, and Cedric (Angela) Sanford; her
20sister-in-law, Leyla (David) Harrell; and a host of great
21aunts, great uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear
22friends; therefore, be it
 
23    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2Tanya Lynette "Tan" Sanford, and extend our sincere condolences
3to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
4it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Tanya Sanford as an expression of
7our deepest sympathy.
