SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Nelson Mundell of Moline, who
4passed away on September 6, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Mundell was born on his family's farm near
6Browning, Missouri to James Nesbitt and Pearl Kimbrough Mundell
7on June 8, 1927; he served in the United States Army Air Force
8as a Corporal during World War II from 1945 to 1947; he married
9Charlotte Elaine Nesser at First Covenant Church in Moline on
10September 10, 1949; and
 
11    WHEREAS, James Mundell worked for 10 years at
12Strombeck-Becker Manufacturing in Moline before becoming a
13part of the John Deere organization; he retired from John Deere
14Plow-Planter Industrial in Moline on September 30, 1987 after
15over 28 years of service as a toolroom machinist; prior to
16retirement, he started and was co-owner of Boymun Machine
17Company for 25 years; he was very successful in the stock
18market over 30 years as a day trader; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James Mundell was a longtime member of First
20Covenant Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee; he
21was an avid landscaper and was in charge of maintaining the
22church property; he was a member of the First Covenant Men's

1Brotherhood; he was known as the "Can Man" at church for many
2years, turning returnable bottles and aluminum cans into
3thousands of dollars for church youth projects; and
 
4    WHEREAS, James Mundell was preceded in death by his wife,
5Charlotte; his parents; four brothers; and one sister; and
 
6    WHEREAS, James Mundell is survived by his children, Marlyss
7(Steve) Vincent, Dr. Brian (Pat) Mundell, Keith Mundell, and
8Kevin (E. Scott Jackson) Mundell-Jackson; his grandsons,
9Matthew Mundell, Nathan Mundell, and Derek Vincent; his
10granddaughter, Emma Vincent; his great-grandson, Rowan
11Mundell; and his sisters, Ruth Viviani, Phyllis (Walt) Dengler,
12and Joyce Aldridge; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15James Nelson Mundell, and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of James Mundell an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
