SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Arthur Earl Schulz, who passed away on
4July 24, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Arthur Schulz was born on January 17, 1923; his
6parents were Bernard C. Schulz and Mary H. Schulz; he married
7Dorothy Nicolet on October 7, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic
8Church in Alton; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Arthur Schulz attended St. Mary's Grade School in
10Alton and Marquette High School, where he graduated in 1940;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Answering his country's call at the outbreak of
13World War II, Arthur Schulz was inducted into the United States
14Army Air Corps, where he earned his pilot's wings and an
15officer's commission; he served with distinction in the Pacific
16Theater from 1944 to 1946, earning numerous combat citations as
17a P-38 fighter pilot with the famed 475th Fighter Group; and
 
18    WHEREAS, After the war, Arthur Schulz had a long and
19successful professional career as a sales service manager for
20the Owens-Illinois Glass Company; and

1    WHEREAS, Arthur Schulz was preceded in death by his
2parents; his wife, Dorothy; and eight siblings; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Arthur Schulz is survived by his children, John
4and Marie Schulz, Rebecca and Ron Wilkinson, Eric and Pamela
5Schulz, Ned and Jill Schulz, and Marilyn and Dan Erzen; 11
6grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Arthur Earl Schulz;
10and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Arthur Schulz as an expression of
13our sympathy.
