SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jeffrey Arthur Lovett, who passed away on
4July 10, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett was born on March 18, 1958 in
6Temple, Texas; his parents were Donald Robert Lovett and Carol
7Joan Pulver; he married Lisa Linn Reed on February 14, 1975;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett graduated from Dixon High School in
101976, Sauk Valley College in 1978, and Northern Illinois
11University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in
12finance; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Jeffrey Lovett
14served as a state bank examiner with the Illinois Commissioner
15of Banks before becoming the Cashier, Board Secretary, and Loan
16Officer for the State Bank of Paw Paw; in 1985, he began
17working at Dixon National Bank as an Assistant Vice President
18in the loan department; in 1992, when Dixon National Bank was
19sold to AMCORE, he was made Senior Vice President and Chief
20Lending Officer, a position he held until March of 1999 when he
21was named President and Chief Operation Officer; he was later
22named a Regional Market President for the group of AMCORE banks

1that he managed; in 2010, Midland States Bank purchased the
2banks that he managed and he became one of three Regional
3Market Presidents, having oversight of the branches in Dixon,
4Oregon, Freeport, Sterling, Rock Falls, Princeton, Peru, and
5Mendota; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett was involved with many community
7organizations; while living in Ashton, he was a Trustee on the
8Village Board, President of the Ashton Lions, a member of the
9Ashton Business Association and Ashton Fire Department; he
10helped organize the Ashton Summer Celebration and served as its
11first President; while living and working in Dixon, he was
12President of the Dixon Evening Lions Club, the Dixon Family
13YMCA, and the Dixon Petunia Festival, a founder and President
14of Dixon Main Street, and President and board member of the
15Sinnissippi Centers and the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home
16Preservation Foundation; he served on the Board and numerous
17terms as President of the Great Lakes Belted Galloway
18Association; he served on the board of the Dixon Chamber of
19Commerce and the Sauk Valley College Foundation; he was
20appointed by Mayor James Burke to serve on his Economic
21Development Commission; he served on the Board of Directors for
22the Dixon Fire Department Pension Plan; and
 
23    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett received the Dixon Chamber of
24Commerce Citizen of the Year Award in 1995; he was also a Dixon

1Evening Lions Club Lion of the Year; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett enjoyed a lifelong interest in many
3areas of history, including the Civil War, local history, and
4genealogy; he enjoyed participating in Civil War reenactments
5for many years and shared this with his daughters and his
6nephew; he wrote and self-published many books about the homes
7in which he lived, several family lines, and the family
8histories of his friends; he and his wife enjoyed their family
9and their farm raising cattle, horses, and chickens; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett was preceded in death by his
11grandchildren, Nora Katherine and William Arthur Richardson;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett is survived by his loving wife,
14Lisa L. Lovett; his daughters, Heather L. Lovett and Sarah J.
15Lovett; his granddaughters, Haley Lenhart, Lillian Richardson,
16Katherine Richardson, and Marianna Al-Ghizawat; his parents;
17his siblings, Joan (Tim) Tripp and Don (Nikki) Lovett; and his
18four nieces and four nephews; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
21family and friends, mourn the passing of Jeffrey Arthur Lovett;
22and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Jeffrey Lovett as an expression of
3our sympathy.
