SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Robert "Bob" Thompson of Colona, who 
4passed away on June 24, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Thompson was born on August 21, 1920 in 
6Wapello, Iowa; his parents were Rodney and Myrtle Benson 
7Thompson; he married Chrystal Mae Wykert on December 8, 1945 in 
8East Moline; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Robert Thompson served in the United States Army 
10during World War II; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Robert Thompson retired from the Experimental 
12Department of International Harvester in 1982 after 37 years of 
13service; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Robert Thompson was a charter member of Pleasant 
15View Baptist Church in Pleasant Valley, Iowa; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Robert Thompson was preceded in death by his 
17parents; his wife, Chrystal Mae; his daughter, Deborah Lynn 
18Thompson; his grandson, John Robert Haley; his sister, Betty 
19Malcom; and his brother, Kenneth Thompson; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Thompson is survived by his daughter, Dawn 
2Haley; his sons, David (Melinda) Thompson and Daniel (Lori) 
3Thompson; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his 
4sister, Judy St. Clair; and his brother, William (Sharon) 
5Thompson; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Thompson; 
9and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Robert Thompson as an expression of 
12our sympathy.
