| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Jack Michalski, who passed away on June | ||||||
| 4 | 5, 2016; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jack Michalski was born on September 16, 1934 in | ||||||
| 6 | Moline; his parents were John and Catherine Michalski; he | ||||||
| 7 | married Mary Kathryn Normoyle on May 7, 1955 at the former St. | ||||||
| 8 | Joseph's Church in Rock Island; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Jack Michalski graduated from Alleman Catholic | ||||||
| 10 | High School and the University of Omaha; he later earned his | ||||||
| 11 | Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University; | ||||||
| 12 | and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Jack Michalski served his country with honor and | ||||||
| 14 | dignity in the United States Army, retiring after 22 years of | ||||||
| 15 | service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel; he served many tours | ||||||
| 16 | in the United States and abroad, including tours in Italy, | ||||||
| 17 | Germany, Hawaii, and Vietnam; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Jack Michalski was a prominent businessman and | ||||||
| 19 | active community leader in the Quad-Cities community; he was a | ||||||
| 20 | Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Allouez Council in Rock | ||||||
| 21 | Island and president of the Rock Island County Historical | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Society; he also served as president of the Military Officers | ||||||
| 2 | Association of America for the Quad-City Chapter and the larger | ||||||
| 3 | Illinois Council; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Jack Michalski had many leisurely interests, | ||||||
| 5 | including the Boy Scouts, golfing, fishing, meeting with his | ||||||
| 6 | morning coffee group, and walking his beloved dogs throughout | ||||||
| 7 | his neighborhood; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Jack Michalski was preceded in death by an infant | ||||||
| 9 | daughter; one brother; and one sister; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Jack Michalski is survived by his wife of 61 | ||||||
| 11 | years, Mary Kay; his son, Mark Allen (Vicki); his daughters, | ||||||
| 12 | Karen Marie (Bob) Sarazin and Lisa Ann (Gregg) Miller; his 10 | ||||||
| 13 | grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and his sisters, | ||||||
| 14 | Virginia Lievens and Rosalie Michalski; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
| 17 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Jack Michalski; and be | ||||||
| 18 | it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to the family of Jack Michalski as an expression of | ||||||
| 21 | our sympathy.
