SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ronald Lee "Mud" Galiene, who passed away
4on May 20, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Galiene was born to Mario and Virginia
6Galiene on October 6, 1936 and raised in Chicago Heights; he
7attended Bloom Township High School, where he was a standout
8athlete; he attended DePauw University in Greencastle,
9Indiana, where he excelled in football and golf; in 1958, he
10was named Athlete of the Year; he served for four years in the
11United States Navy, earning the rank of Lieutenant; he married
12Margaret "Margie" Salata in 1960 and they settled in
13Libertyville; and
 
14    WHEREAS, After graduating from the University of Illinois
15Dental School, Ronald Galiene specialized in orthodontics, and
16launched a 30-year practice in Waukegan; "Dr. G" was loved by
17his staff and patients and he loved them in return; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ronald Galiene was inducted into the DePauw
19Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003; he continued to achieve
20greatness on the golf course and was named club champion
21several times at both the Glen Flora Country Club in Waukegan
22and the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest; "Poppy" and his wife

1eventually retired to the shores of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin,
2where he spent his remaining years entertaining friends and
3family, soaking up the sun, tinkering in his workshop, and
4traveling; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Galiene was preceded in death by his
6daughter, Mary Beth; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ronald Galiene is survived by his wife of 56
8years, Margie; his children, Ron Jr., Julie (Mark) Hamill, Jane
9(John) Oviatt, and Jill (Dave) Kiel; his grandchildren, Meg,
10Paige, Matt, Dan, Mary Jane, Emma, Lily, Allison, and Ronnie;
11his sister, Sharon (Bill) White; his brothers and
12sisters-in-law, Stan Salata, and Bob and Barbara Salata; and
13his nieces and nephews, Sheri, Bob, Amy, Dan, and Suzie;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Ronald Lee "Mud" Galiene, and extend our sincere condolences to
18his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Ronald Galiene as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
