| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Brian A. Knight of Ringwood, who passed |
| 4 | | away on April 9, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Brian Knight was born on May 31, 1938 in North |
| 6 | | Conway, New Hampshire; his parents were Edward and Sophie |
| 7 | | Knight; he married Janice M. Miller on October 5, 1963 at the |
| 8 | | First Presbyterian Church in Woodstock; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Brian Knight proudly served in the United States |
| 10 | | Air Force on active duty for eight years; he later joined the |
| 11 | | United States Army and attended the Sergeant Major Academy, the |
| 12 | | Drill Sergeant Academy, and served as Commandant of the Drill |
| 13 | | Sergeant Schools of the 85th Division TNG; he retired from the |
| 14 | | United States Army Reserve as a Commander Sergeant Major, after |
| 15 | | serving a total of 37 years in the service; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Brian Knight earned his bachelor's degree at |
| 17 | | Plymouth State College in New Hampshire and his master's degree |
| 18 | | from National Louis University in Joliet; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Brian Knight taught at Northwood Junior High |
| 20 | | School in Woodstock for 25 years; he also coached |
| 21 | | cross-country, track, and wrestling at the school; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Brian Knight was a member and past Master of the |
| 2 | | St. Mark's Lodge No. 63 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons; he |
| 3 | | was active in the McHenry County Historical Society and the |
| 4 | | Bartlett, New Hampshire Historical Society; he was also a |
| 5 | | member of the 10th Mountain Division Descendant's Association |
| 6 | | and held life memberships in the National Rifle Association and |
| 7 | | the Non-Commissioned Officers Association; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Brian Knight was preceded in death by his parents |
| 9 | | and his son-in-law, Joseph Poczkalski, Sr.; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Brian Knight is survived by his wife of 52 years, |
| 11 | | Janice; his children, Terri Lynn Knight, Stephen (Gina) Knight, |
| 12 | | Sarah Poczkalski, and Seth Knight; his grandchildren, Ashton |
| 13 | | Adams-Knight, Tyler Wenzel, Brianna Wenzel, Joseph Poczkalski |
| 14 | | Jr., and Rachael Poczkalski; his great-granddaughter, |
| 15 | | Charlotte Barwig; his siblings, Gail (Dave Flewelling) |
| 16 | | Tunstead, Paul (Faith) Knight, and Sally Lombardo; his cousin, |
| 17 | | Anita Stanley; and many special nieces and nephews; therefore, |
| 18 | | be it

| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 21 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Brian A. Knight; and |
