|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Geraldine Kelly Keirnan of Waukegan, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 4, 2016 at the age of 93; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Geraldine Keirnan was the oldest daughter of Ellen |
| 6 | | F. and John J. Kelly; she also raised her eight brothers and |
| 7 | | sisters and truly cared for them throughout their lifetimes; |
| 8 | | she married Thomas S. Keirnan in 1944; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Geraldine Keirnan graduated from Holy Child High |
| 10 | | School and then traveled the country during World War II |
| 11 | | performing as part of the Kelly Sisters; she and her sisters, |
| 12 | | Frances Kelly and Jane Kelly Kennedy, entertained the troops at |
| 13 | | all of the continental United States Army bases during the war |
| 14 | | as part of the USO tours; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Geraldine Keirnan was involved in the community |
| 16 | | and proud of her work on the Board of the Lake County Museum |
| 17 | | during its formative years; she was a dedicated officer of the |
| 18 | | Ex Libris Book Club and became its Historian, maintaining |
| 19 | | membership records and organizing the annual Book Club |
| 20 | | Christmas programs at Glen Flora Country Club; she was also a |
| 21 | | golfer and bridge player; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Geraldine Keirnan was preceded in death by her |
| 2 | | husband, Thomas, and her siblings, Thomas Kelly, Frances Kelly, |
| 3 | | Jane Kennedy, Marjorie Huffine, Mary Lou Karasak, Dorothy |
| 4 | | Durka, and Dr. John Kelly and their spouses; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Geraldine Keirnan is survived by her children, |
| 6 | | Ellen Louise (Bill Noth) Keirnan, Janine Elizabeth Keirnan, and |
| 7 | | Patrick (Ana) Keirnan; her grandchildren, Thomas Michael |
| 8 | | (Marice) Keirnan, Kelly Monica Keirnan, and Sean Sebastian |
| 9 | | Keirnan; her sister, Ginger (Bill) Durkin; several cousins, |
| 10 | | including Alice Kelly Mulvaney; her 60 nieces and nephews; Mary |
| 11 | | Ellen (Don) Vanderventer and her sisters, Joanie (Steve) |
| 12 | | Westphal and Carol (Steve) Wolf, and her nephew, Billy Durkin |
| 13 | | (Jen Moore); therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
| 16 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Geraldine Kelly |
| 17 | | Keirnan; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to the family of Geraldine Keirnan as an expression |
| 20 | | of our sympathy.
