|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Edward Otto Gizynski of Silvis, who |
4 | | passed away on April 28, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Gizynski was born on September 6, 1913 in |
6 | | Chicago; his parents were Otto and Martha Witt Gizynski; he |
7 | | married Martha Ellen Hansford in January of 1946; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Edward Gizynski proudly served in the United |
9 | | States Army Air Force for four years during World War II; he |
10 | | later became a member of the East Moline American Legion Post |
11 | | 227 and had the privilege of attending a Quad City Honor Flight |
12 | | in 2010; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Edward Gizynski earned his Bachelor of Arts in |
14 | | accounting from Augustana College; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Edward Gizynski worked for International |
16 | | Harvester for 40 years until his retirement in January of 1976; |
17 | | and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Edward Gizynski and his wife traveled extensively |
19 | | in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America; their trips to |
20 | | Papua, New Guinea to visit their daughter and grandson were |

1 | | among the most memorable of their world travels; they also |
2 | | camped in almost every state in the United States; he also |
3 | | enjoyed sports, reading, playing bridge, working in the garden, |
4 | | and square dancing; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Gizynski was a member of the Two Rivers |
6 | | YMCA in Moline for over 60 years, where he enjoyed exercising |
7 | | and camaraderie even after his 101st birthday; he was also a |
8 | | member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Moline for |
9 | | over 50 years; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Edward Gizynski was preceded in death by his |
11 | | parents; his wife, Martha; and his brothers, Elmer H. and |
12 | | Raymond J. Gizynski; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Edward Gizynski is survived by his daughters, |
14 | | Ellen (Robert) Greene and Sharon (Jim) Caldwell, and his |
15 | | grandson, Daniel C. Gordon; therefore, be it
|
16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
18 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward Otto Gizynski; |
19 | | and be it further
|
20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Edward Gizynski as an expression of |
