SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James E. Haronik of Silvis, who passed
4away on April 14, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Haronik was born on December 30, 1939 in
6Milan; his parents were Alvin J. and Evelyn R. Mandel Haronik;
7he married Leonette M. "Lea" Mielke on August 19, 1972 at St.
8Mary's Catholic Church in Moline; and
 
9    WHEREAS, James Haronik graduated from Alleman High School
10and St. Ambrose College; and
 
11    WHEREAS, James Haronik served as a sergeant in the Illinois
12National Guard and with the United States Army Reserve; and
 
13    WHEREAS, James Haronik retired in 2000 after 34 1/2 years
14of government service, having worked for the Department of the
15Army at the Rock Island Arsenal; and
 
16    WHEREAS, James Haronik was a longtime active member at St.
17Mary's Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister, Mass
18server, and money counter; he volunteered as a scout leader and
19served as a timer for Alleman High School track and cross
20country meets; and

1    WHEREAS, James Haronik enjoyed woodworking and made
2furniture and other useful items for his home, children, and
3grandchildren; and
 
4    WHEREAS, James Haronik was preceded in death by his parents
5and his sister, Theresa VanLandegen; and
 
6    WHEREAS, James Haronik is survived by his wife, Leonette;
7his children, Ann (Britt) Maier, David (Heather) Haronik, and
8Julie Haronik; his grandchildren, Derek and Kyle Haronik and
9Lizzie, Katie and Abbie Maier; his sisters, Sister Veronica
10Haronik, V.H.M., Kathryn Hall, Beverly (Richard) Rausch, and
11Cynthia Sullivan; his brothers, Martin (Coni) Haronik and John
12Haronik (Jeff Goldman); his brother-in-law, Daniel
13VanLandegen; and his several nieces and nephews; therefore, be
14it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
17family and friends, mourn the passing of James E. Haronik; and
18be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of James Haronik as an expression of
21our sympathy.
