2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of James E. Haronik of Silvis, who passed |
4 | | away on April 14, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, James Haronik was born on December 30, 1939 in |
6 | | Milan; his parents were Alvin J. and Evelyn R. Mandel Haronik; |
7 | | he married Leonette M. "Lea" Mielke on August 19, 1972 at St. |
8 | | Mary's Catholic Church in Moline; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, James Haronik graduated from Alleman High School |
10 | | and St. Ambrose College; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, James Haronik served as a sergeant in the Illinois |
12 | | National Guard and with the United States Army Reserve; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, James Haronik retired in 2000 after 34 1/2 years |
14 | | of government service, having worked for the Department of the |
15 | | Army at the Rock Island Arsenal; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, James Haronik was a longtime active member at St. |
17 | | Mary's Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister, Mass |
18 | | server, and money counter; he volunteered as a scout leader and |
19 | | served as a timer for Alleman High School track and cross |
20 | | country meets; and

1 | | WHEREAS, James Haronik enjoyed woodworking and made |
2 | | furniture and other useful items for his home, children, and |
3 | | grandchildren; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, James Haronik was preceded in death by his parents |
5 | | and his sister, Theresa VanLandegen; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, James Haronik is survived by his wife, Leonette; |
7 | | his children, Ann (Britt) Maier, David (Heather) Haronik, and |
8 | | Julie Haronik; his grandchildren, Derek and Kyle Haronik and |
9 | | Lizzie, Katie and Abbie Maier; his sisters, Sister Veronica |
10 | | Haronik, V.H.M., Kathryn Hall, Beverly (Richard) Rausch, and |
11 | | Cynthia Sullivan; his brothers, Martin (Coni) Haronik and John |
12 | | Haronik (Jeff Goldman); his brother-in-law, Daniel |
13 | | VanLandegen; and his several nieces and nephews; therefore, be |
14 | | it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
17 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of James E. Haronik; and |
18 | | be it further
|
19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of James Haronik as an expression of |
21 | | our sympathy.
