|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Dr. Earl H. Clark of Rock Island and |
4 | | Moline, who passed away on April 11, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark was born on December 21, 1920 in |
6 | | Beloit, Kansas; his parents were Earl Howard and Bess Prose |
7 | | Clark; he married Janet Goodjohn on December 20, 1947; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark spent his childhood in Hoisington, |
9 | | Kansas and received his undergraduate and medical degrees from |
10 | | the University of Kansas; during World War II, he served as a |
11 | | lieutenant junior grade in the Naval Reserve and a medical |
12 | | officer with the 1st Marine Division in northern China; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Following the completion of his medical residency |
14 | | in 1951, Dr. Earl Clark joined Dr. John P. Burgess in the |
15 | | practice of pediatrics in Rock Island; he was later joined by |
16 | | Dr. Earl M. Stockdale, with whom he practiced for 30 years; |
17 | | they were joined by Dr. Christopher Moen and Dr. Thomas Herr, |
18 | | current senior members of Pediatric Group Associates; he |
19 | | retired from pediatric practice on January 1, 1987; his |
20 | | dedication to the practice of medicine was honored when he was |
21 | | chosen as King of Mardi Gras in 1983; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark was certified by the American Board |
2 | | of Pediatrics and was a member of the American Academy of |
3 | | Pediatrics; he was a member of the American Medical Association |
4 | | and the Illinois State Medical Association and a member and |
5 | | president of the Rock Island County Medical Association; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark and his wife were members of the |
7 | | Broadway Presbyterian Church for over 50 years; he served as a |
8 | | deacon and elder; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark enjoyed spending time with his |
10 | | friends and family, traveling, gardening, golf, reading, and |
11 | | dining; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark was preceded in death by his wife, |
13 | | Janet; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Earl Clark is survived by his sons and |
15 | | daughters-in-law, John and Kathleen Clark and Howard and Jane |
16 | | Clark; his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Timothy Patton; his |
17 | | grandchildren, John (Hemma) Clark, Mary (Ben) Dunlap, Annie |
18 | | (Matthew) Arnett, David Clark, Lucy Clark, Dr. Simon (Grace) |
19 | | Patton, Mary (Andrew) Lesh, Elizabeth (Francis) Defilippis, |
20 | | Andrew (Becca) Patton, and Paul Patton; his 15 |
21 | | great-grandchildren; his nephew, P. Bartlett (Kathryn) Wu; and |
22 | | his great-nephew, Peter B. Wu; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
3 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Dr. Earl H. Clark; and |
4 | | be it further
|
5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
6 | | presented to the family of Dr. Earl Clark as an expression of |
7 | | our sympathy.
