| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Donald Edward "Dody" Hayes, who passed |
| 4 | | away on April 15, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Donald Hayes was born on July 2, 1936 in Alton; |
| 6 | | his parents were Edward and Mary Helen Hayes; he married Donna |
| 7 | | J. Pierce on June 1, 1958 in Springfield; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Donald Hayes attended Western Military Academy |
| 9 | | and graduated from Alton High School in 1955; he started |
| 10 | | working at the Alton Telegraph in 1951 as a part-time stringer |
| 11 | | photographer; he also worked for the Illinois State Police from |
| 12 | | 1957 to 1960 as a Communications Clerk; in 1977, he left the |
| 13 | | State Police to become a full-time photographer at the Alton |
| 14 | | Telegraph, where he worked until his retirement in 1977; |
| 15 | | following his retirement, he spent 12 years working for the |
| 16 | | Alton Police Department in fleet maintenance; he also worked |
| 17 | | part-time for Argosy Casino Security for four years; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Donald Hayes served as the 7th Ward Alderman for |
| 19 | | the City of Alton from 1978 to 1979; he also served as a |
| 20 | | Commissioner for the Alton Exposition for 20 years; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Donald Hayes was a member of College Avenue |
|

| 1 | | Presbyterian Church in Alton; he was also a life member of the |
| 2 | | Illinois Police Association and a longtime associate member of |
| 3 | | the Southern Illinois Police Chiefs Association; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Donald Hayes was preceded in death by his wife, |
| 5 | | Donna; his parents; his brother, Jon D. Hayes; and his |
| 6 | | granddaughter, Stephanie Hayes; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Donald Hayes is survived by his sons and |
| 8 | | daughters-in-law, Daniel and Lisa R. Hayes, David and Julie |
| 9 | | Hayes, Doug and Barb Hayes, and Darrin and Lisa G. Hayes; his |
| 10 | | daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mark Macias; his |
| 11 | | grandchildren, Brian (Tara) Hayes, Scott Hayes, Courtney |
| 12 | | (William) Kinkel, Joni (Brandon) Whitfield, Lauren (Ryan) |
| 13 | | Hoefert, Hillary Macias, Jordan Hayes, Brittany Hayes, Kaitlyn |
| 14 | | Hayes, Rachel Hayes, Brandon Hayes, Emily Macias, and Natalie |
| 15 | | Macias; and his great-grandchildren, Blakely Kinkel, Cameron |
| 16 | | and Rilynn Hayes, Jackson Hoefert, and Caiden Nicholson; |
| 17 | | therefore, be it

| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 20 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Donald Edward "Dody" |
| 21 | | Hayes; and be it further
