2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of George C. Williams of Rock Island, who |
4 | | passed away on March 17, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, George Williams was born on July 12, 1924 in |
6 | | Clinton, Iowa; his parents were George Williams and Clara |
7 | | Sorensen Williams; he married Louise Dyer on May 3, 1947 in |
8 | | Clinton; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, George Williams was a veteran of the United States |
10 | | Navy; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, George Williams worked as the warehouse manager at |
12 | | Lerch & Thonn, Inc. in Rock Island for many years; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, George Williams was a member of St. Pius X |
14 | | Catholic Church in Rock Island, Allouez Council #658 of the |
15 | | Knights of Columbus in Rock Island, and Moline American Legion |
16 | | Post #246; and |
17 | | WHEREAS, George Williams enjoyed golfing, playing cards, |
18 | | and spending time with his family; he was also an avid Iowa |
19 | | Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan; and

1 | | WHEREAS, George Williams was preceded in death by his |
2 | | parents; his wife, Louise; his granddaughter, Renae Ekstrom; |
3 | | and his sister, Frances Milder; and

4 | | WHEREAS, George Williams is survived by his children, |
5 | | Regina (Ernest) Donaway, Cheryl Bobb (Troy Wilkinson), and |
6 | | Claire (Phillip) Ekstrom; his grandchildren, Brian (Jamie) |
7 | | Donaway, Matthew Donaway, Eric Donaway, Heather (Don) Griener, |
8 | | Tina (Bob) Hantz, Shari (Tim) Thompson, Wendi (Tim) DeFauw, |
9 | | Elaina (Chris) Wallin, Richard Ekstrom, Robert (Nicole) |
10 | | Ekstrom, Rodney (Jennifer) Ekstrom, and Ryan (Jen) Ekstrom; his |
11 | | 30 great-grandchildren; his three great-great-grandchildren; |
12 | | and his sisters, Jacqueline Bostock and Marietta (Tom) Daehler; |
13 | | therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
16 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of George C. Williams; |
17 | | and be it further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of George Williams as an expression of |
20 | | our sympathy.
