SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  George C. Williams of Rock Island, who 
4passed away on March 17, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, George Williams was born on July 12, 1924 in 
6Clinton, Iowa; his parents were George Williams and Clara 
7Sorensen Williams; he married Louise Dyer on May 3, 1947 in 
8Clinton; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, George Williams was a veteran of the United States 
10Navy; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, George Williams worked as the warehouse manager at 
12Lerch & Thonn, Inc. in Rock Island for many years; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, George Williams was a member of St. Pius X 
14Catholic Church in Rock Island, Allouez Council #658 of the 
15Knights of Columbus in Rock Island, and Moline American Legion 
16Post #246; and
 
17    WHEREAS, George Williams enjoyed golfing, playing cards, 
18and spending time with his family; he was also an avid Iowa 
19Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan; and

1    WHEREAS, George Williams was preceded in death by his 
2parents; his wife, Louise; his granddaughter, Renae Ekstrom; 
3and his sister, Frances Milder; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, George Williams is survived by his children, 
5Regina (Ernest) Donaway, Cheryl Bobb (Troy Wilkinson), and 
6Claire (Phillip) Ekstrom; his grandchildren, Brian (Jamie) 
7Donaway, Matthew Donaway, Eric Donaway, Heather (Don) Griener, 
8Tina (Bob) Hantz, Shari (Tim) Thompson, Wendi (Tim) DeFauw, 
9Elaina (Chris) Wallin, Richard Ekstrom, Robert (Nicole) 
10Ekstrom, Rodney (Jennifer) Ekstrom, and Ryan (Jen) Ekstrom; his 
1130 great-grandchildren; his three great-great-grandchildren; 
12and his sisters, Jacqueline Bostock and Marietta (Tom) Daehler; 
13therefore, be it
  
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
16family and friends, mourn the passing of George C. Williams; 
17and be it further
  
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19presented to the family of George Williams as an expression of 
20our sympathy.
