SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rev. James Charles Crangle of Rock
4Island, who passed away on January 17, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rev. Crangle was born in Chicago to James and
6Elizabeth McMurray Crangle on October 23, 1919; he served in
7the United States Army Air Forces during World War II and
8during the Korean War as a Chaplain's Assistant; he married
9Anne B. Zeigler in Chicago on April 13, 1957; he earned his
10Bachelor of Arts from the University of Dubuque and graduated
11from the Dubuque Theological Seminary; he married Barbara
12(Wangelin) Nelson in Rock Island on May 20, 1989; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Rev. Crangle served as Pastor of the Presbyterian
14Community Church in Rock Falls, Westminster Presbyterian
15Church in Kirkwood, and the Coldbrook Christian Church
16(Disciples of Christ) in Cameron; he also served at a number of
17churches as their interim pastor; while in the Sterling/Rock
18Falls area, he founded Self Help Enterprises, a sheltered
19workshop for those with developmental disabilities; most
20recently, he was affiliated with 15th Avenue Christian Church;
21and
 
22    WHEREAS, Rev. Crangle was a former member of the Kiwanis

1Club in Rock Island and the Rotary Club in Monmouth; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Rev. Crangle was preceded in death by his first
3wife, Anne; his three sisters; and his brother; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Rev. Crangle is survived by his wife, Barbara; his
5daughter, Barbara A. Dean; his stepson, Doug (Marcia) Nelson;
6his stepdaughter, Kathi (Jeff) Barnes; his step-grandchildren,
7Andy (Kelly) Nelson, Matt Nelson, Dan Barnes, Eric (Keila)
8Barnes, and Karen Barnes; and many nieces and nephews;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Rev. James Charles Crangle, and extend our sincere condolences
13to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Rev. Crangle as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
