|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Minister Melvin "Bug" Jenkins, Sr., who |
4 | | passed away on March 1, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Jenkins, Sr. was born in Chicago to Essie |
6 | | and William Jenkins, Sr. on August 29, 1962, as a surprise |
7 | | addition to his twin, Marilyn Jenkins; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Jenkins, Sr. attended Proviso East High |
9 | | School and served as a Cook County Forest Preserve District |
10 | | Officer for a number of years; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Jenkins, Sr. also served in various |
12 | | capacities at Lively Stone Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago |
13 | | and at Garden of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church in Broadview; |
14 | | and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Jenkins, Sr. always found great joy in |
16 | | assisting and serving the lost, downtrodden, and broken in |
17 | | spirit; he could always be found ministering, singing, and |
18 | | wearing a warm and welcoming smile; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Jenkins, Sr. enjoyed sharing the Gospel of |
20 | | Jesus Christ, bowling, attending concerts, traveling on cruise |

1 | | ships, spoiling his children and grandchildren, and weekly |
2 | | dinners with his mother and siblings; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Jenkins, Sr. was preceded in death by, and |
4 | | is now reunited with, his twin, Marilyn Jenkins; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Jenkins, Sr. leaves cherished memories to |
6 | | his mother, Essie Jenkins; his father, Rev. William (Lula) |
7 | | Jenkins, Sr.; his wife, Vivian Burley-Jenkins; his four |
8 | | children, Taurean (Idelia) Rideau, Lasheena (Quintin) |
9 | | Williams, Tramond Ingram, and Melvin Jenkins, Jr.; his |
10 | | stepdaughter, Angela; his seven grandchildren, Taurean, Jr., |
11 | | Iyannah, Morgan, Johnathan, Brantson, Tramond, Jr., and |
12 | | Tramine; his 12 siblings, William, Jr. (Diane), Eddie |
13 | | (Patricia), Shirley (Robert), Marcell (Larry), Windol |
14 | | (Josephine), Ivory, Arthur, Harold, Artarius, Jacqueline, |
15 | | LaNisha, and Contrell (LenKisha); and a host of nieces, |
16 | | nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
19 | | Minister Melvin "Bug" Jenkins, Sr., and extend our sincere |
20 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
21 | | him; and be it further
