SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph J. Asperger of Granite City, who
4passed away on March 2, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Asperger was born in Granite City to
6Nickolas and Katie Asperger on February 9, 1925; he graduated
7from St. Mary School and Madison High School and served in the
8United States Army Signal Corps from 1943 to 1946; he earned
9his teaching degree in 1950 from Northeast Missouri State
10Teachers College; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Joseph Asperger spent the first two years of his
12teaching career at Catholic High School (Laboure); he began
13teaching at Madison High School in 1954, where he coached for
1415 years; he also worked at Madison Jr. High School, Louis
15Baer, and Madison Middle School, retiring in January 1984 as a
16highly respected and loved teacher; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joseph Asperger was a member of St. Mary Catholic
18Church, St. Mary's Boosters Club, the Knights of Columbus,
19AMVETS Post 204, and Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 222; he
20also served as a Venice Township Trustee and a Police
21Commissioner for the City of Madison; and

1    WHEREAS, Joseph Asperger was preceded in death by his wife
2of 49 years, Bernadine (Varley) Asperger; his parents; his two
3brothers, Steve and Nick Asperger; and his sister, Catherine
4Planitz; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Asperger is survived by his sons, Richard
6(Stacy) Asperger and Charles M. (Debbie) Asperger; his
7grandchildren, Nicholas and Colin Fischer, Aaron and Justin
8Asperger, and Ashley Ambuel; and his great-grandchildren,
9Rylan Fischer and Noah Ambuel; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Joseph J. Asperger, and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Joseph Asperger as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
