|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Anne V. Gass, who passed away on February |
| 4 | | 13, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Anne Gass was born on April 17, 1957 in Sylvester, |
| 6 | | Georgia; her parents were Jasper and Irene Nether; she married |
| 7 | | Arthur J. Gass, Sr. on November 29, 1975; they were married for |
| 8 | | over 40 years and renewed their wedding vows on August 22, |
| 9 | | 2015; they traveled 7,604 miles across the country on their |
| 10 | | honeymoon; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Anne Gass was employed as a childcare provider, as |
| 12 | | an Accounts Payable Clerk for Moore Business Forms, and as a |
| 13 | | Program Administrative Assistant for the Black Chamber of |
| 14 | | Commerce of Lake County; she later dedicated her time to the |
| 15 | | care of her grandchildren; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Anne Gass confessed Christ at an early age and was |
| 17 | | baptized at Jones Chapel A.M.E. Church in Sylvester, Georgia; |
| 18 | | she was very active in her church and served in many |
| 19 | | ministries; she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, |
| 20 | | choir director, youth ministry director, deaconess, minister's |
| 21 | | wife, and Pastor's wife; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Anne Gass was the founder of the North Shore |
| 2 | | Baptist Ministers' Wives and Widows Organization and along with |
| 3 | | her husband, cofounded the Black Chamber of Commerce of Lake |
| 4 | | County, Family Housing Services of Lake County, and the Small |
| 5 | | Business and Contractors Academy, where she served as the |
| 6 | | Director of Growth and Development and as a member of the Board |
| 7 | | of Directors; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Anne Gass was preceded in death by her parents; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Anne Gass is survived by her husband, Arthur, Sr.; |
| 11 | | her daughters, CaRita A. (Kedrick) Timms and LuSundra P. (Darl, |
| 12 | | II) Everett; her son, Arthur J. Gass, Jr.; her grandchildren, |
| 13 | | Jasper, Harrison, Donavyn, Darl, III, and Jaylen; her siblings, |
| 14 | | Willie Carl (Juanita) Nether, Mary Frances (Henry) McKinney, |
| 15 | | Johnny (Diane) Nether, and Ima Jean (Chester) Walker; and her |
| 16 | | many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and adopted children; |
| 17 | | therefore, be it

| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
| 20 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Anne V. Gass; and be |
| 21 | | it further
