2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Eunice "Granny" Andreas of McHenry, who |
4 | | passed away on January 12, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas was born in Algonquin to Albert and |
6 | | Jennie Ebel on November 14, 1913; she attended a one-room |
7 | | schoolhouse and married Weldon Andreas in 1932; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas was employed in a chemical plant |
9 | | supporting the war effort in 1942 and continued working for the |
10 | | next 50 years; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas enjoyed taking family trips, |
12 | | including frequent trips to their Wisconsin cabin for fishing |
13 | | and enjoying nature by the lake; she also enjoyed 50 years of |
14 | | Andreas 4th of July family reunions; they moved to Sunnyside |
15 | | (now Johnsburg) in 1978; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas took her "trip of a lifetime" to |
17 | | the banks of the Elbe River in Germany to see the small town |
18 | | the Ebels left in 1872, and then to Malmo, Sweden to visit her |
19 | | mother's ancestral home; throughout her life, she carried her |
20 | | immigrant mother's determination, along with many family |
21 | | traditions like crocheting and renowned home-cooking; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas was preceded in death by her |
2 | | siblings, Doris, Lester, Laverne, Glenard, Marian, Albert, and |
3 | | Adelbert, and her husband, Weldon; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas is survived by her 4 children, |
5 | | Duane (Doris Bauer) Andreas, Audrey (John) Smith, Darlene |
6 | | (Thomas) Huemann, and Margo Andreas; her 11 grandchildren, Lisa |
7 | | (Thomas) Cote, Greg (Stephanie) Smith, Janine (Kevin) Burns, |
8 | | Kim (Gordon) Husby, Dean (Jane) Andreas, Dirk Andreas, Diane |
9 | | (Paul) Erickson, Joe (Kathy) Huemann, Randy (Patty) Smith, Dana |
10 | | Andreas, and Tom (Sandy) Huemann; her 27 great-grandchildren; |
11 | | and her 12 great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
14 | | Eunice "Granny" Andreas, and extend our sincere condolences to |
15 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
16 | | further

17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
18 | | presented to the family of Eunice Andreas as an expression of |
19 | | our deepest sympathy.
