SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David A. Sams of Gurnee, who passed away on January 8, 2016; and

WHEREAS, David Sams was born on August 30, 1950 in Waukegan; he married Renee Rucks on July 19, 1986 in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, David Sams was a veteran of the United States Air Force; and

WHEREAS, David Sams worked as a Probation Officer in Lake County for 10 years; he later worked at Warren Township High School as a Security Officer, where he was known as "The Beef", retiring after 14 years of service; and

WHEREAS, David Sams was a collector of World War II memorabilia; he also loved traveling to Las Vegas to gamble and became an avid sports fan thanks to his wife; and

WHEREAS, David Sams was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Irene (nee Engstrom) Sams; his sisters, Wendy Tepper and Cathy Sorenson; his brother, Kenneth Sams; and his brothers-in-law, William G. Rucks and Timothy W. Rucks; and

WHEREAS, David Sams is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Renee Sams; his beloved Yorkie, Paco; his brothers, Larry (Carol) Sams and Donald (Lauren) Sams; his brothers-in-law, James (Cindy) Rucks, Thomas (Mary Ellen) Rucks, Richard Rucks, Peter (Cindy) Rucks, and Ivan Tepper; his sisters-in-law, Mary (Mike) Gray, Rebecca (Frank) Belmont, Janet Rucks, and Elaine Sams; his special nieces, Deatra Sams, Denise Sams, and Laura Coffey; and his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of David A. Sams; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Sams as an expression of our sympathy.
