| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Dr. Eric Douglas Dixon of Edwardsville, | ||||||
| 4 | who passed away on January 17, 2016; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Dixon was born in Jerseyville to Max Douglas | ||||||
| 6 | and Susan Diane (nee Meuth)
Dixon on December 10, 1984; he | ||||||
| 7 | attended St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools and graduated | ||||||
| 8 | from Jersey
Community High School in 2003, where he was a | ||||||
| 9 | standout, 3-sport athlete, participating in basketball, | ||||||
| 10 | baseball,
and football; he attended Lewis & Clark Community | ||||||
| 11 | College in Godfrey on a baseball scholarship, where he received | ||||||
| 12 | his associate's
degree; he then went on to attend Southeast | ||||||
| 13 | Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri; he | ||||||
| 14 | transferred to
the Logan College of Chiropractic, where he | ||||||
| 15 | finished his bachelor's degree in human biology; in August and | ||||||
| 16 | December of 2011, he received his Doctorate of
Chiropractic and | ||||||
| 17 | his master's degree in sport science and rehabilitation | ||||||
| 18 | respectively; while studying at Logan, he worked with college | ||||||
| 19 | athletes from the surrounding
area, including the University of | ||||||
| 20 | Missouri and Missouri Baptist University; as a Logan student, | ||||||
| 21 | he also managed the
Disabled Ski Program at Hidden Valley Ski | ||||||
| 22 | Resort; upon graduation, he was the sole
recipient of the Sport | ||||||
| 23 | Rehab Department Award; and
| ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, Dr. Dixon's professional career took him to | ||||||
| 2 | California, where he worked with a great team at LA Sports and | ||||||
| 3 | Spine; in 2012, he returned to the area to start his own Sports | ||||||
| 4 | Chiropractic/Performance
Training facility in Edwardsville; he | ||||||
| 5 | began SPORTCHIRO+ in November of 2012 and has been practicing | ||||||
| 6 | ever since; he received his Certified Personal Training | ||||||
| 7 | Certificate from the National Strength and Conditioning | ||||||
| 8 | Association in
2012; he also developed Accelerate Health & | ||||||
| 9 | Fitness Consulting in Edwardsville and was in the process
of | ||||||
| 10 | opening another gym in Jerseyville; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Dr. Dixon was recently invited to be part of
the | ||||||
| 12 | chiropractic team for the St. Louis Cardinals; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dr. Dixon was preceded in death by his paternal | ||||||
| 14 | grandparents, Durward "D.B." and Marjorie Toinette Dixon; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Dr. Dixon is survived by his parents; his sister, | ||||||
| 16 | Lindsay Dixon; his brother, Alex
Dixon; his grandparents, | ||||||
| 17 | Cletus and Helen Meuth; and numerous loving aunts, uncles,
| ||||||
| 18 | cousins, friends, and professional colleagues; therefore, be | ||||||
| 19 | it
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 22 | Dr. Eric Douglas Dixon, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 2 | further
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 4 | presented to the family of Dr. Dixon as an expression of our | ||||||
| 5 | deepest sympathy.
