SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Billie L. Hines, Sr. of East Moline, who
4passed away on December 25, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Billie Hines, Sr. was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa
6on March 31, 1928 to Carl and Bloosom Palmer Hines; he served
7in the United States Army during World War II and married Carol
8J. Smith in Arkansas on July 1, 1950; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Billie Hines, Sr. retired from Case International
10Harvester in East Moline in 1993; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Billie Hines, Sr. had a special place in his heart
12for his niece, Jacque Knapp, with whom he conversed daily; for
13the last year and a half, Betty Brown, whom he dearly loved,
14had been a bright spot in his life and had not left his side
15since they met; she devoted herself to his care and the care of
16his beloved dog, Jazzy; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Billie Hines, Sr. was preceded in death by his
18wife of 56 years, Carol; his parents; his sister, Carol
19Lorimer; and his special friend, Donna Schick, whose daughter,
20Colleen Scholz, became like a daughter to him; and

1    WHEREAS, Billie Hines, Sr. is survived by his children,
2Billie Hines, Jr., Gregory Hines, Karen (Mark) Martin, and
3Jeffrey Hines; his 9 grandchildren; his 17
4great-grandchildren; his siblings, Gary (Ann) Hines and Lynda
5(Jim) Uleman; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Billie L. Hines, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Billie Hines, Sr. as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
