|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Dorothy Marie Ralston of Waukegan, who |
4 | | passed away on November 19, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Ralston was born in Waukegan on May 11, |
6 | | 1926 to John and Mary (nee Modic) Gabrosek and remained a |
7 | | life-long resident; she married Robert Theodore Ralston on |
8 | | September 22, 1951 at Mother of God Church in Waukegan; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Ralston started work in the insurance |
10 | | department at Abbott Laboratories the day after her high school |
11 | | graduation from Waukegan Township High School; she also worked |
12 | | at Victory Memorial Hospital and was later employed as a unit |
13 | | secretary at St. Therese Hospital; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Ralston enjoyed bowling and attending |
15 | | dances, especially the ones at Great Lakes Naval Base; while at |
16 | | Abbott, she and her sister, Juliette, were in the Abbott Spring |
17 | | Shows and the Abbott Kitchen Band; later, she and her husband |
18 | | started square dancing, along with their daughter, Robin; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Ralston was a life-long member of the |
20 | | Slovenian National Benefit Society and the S.N.P.J. Sloga Lodge |
21 | | 14 in Waukegan, where, during her youth, she was part of the |

1 | | Jolly Juveniles Circle and later served on the board for |
2 | | several years; she was also a member of the Slovenic National |
3 | | Home, the Bishop Baraga Association, and the Slovenian Cultural |
4 | | Center in Lemont; she was a member of Mother of God Church, |
5 | | Immaculate Conception Church, and lastly, St. Dismas Church, |
6 | | all located in Waukegan; at Mother of God, she was a member of |
7 | | the Christian Mother's Sodality, at Immaculate Conception she |
8 | | belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society, and at St. Dismas she |
9 | | was in the St. Dismas Women's Club; she also belonged to the |
10 | | Catholic Women's Club of Lake County for several years and |
11 | | became a life member; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Ralston was preceded in death by her |
13 | | daughter, Robin; her parents, John and Mary Gabrosek; and her 5 |
14 | | sisters, Sophie (Eugene) Hooker, Jeanne (Robert) Jenkins, |
15 | | MaryAnn (James) McNeely, Tillie (Edward) Tolson, and Juliette |
16 | | (Robert) McCann; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Ralston is survived by her husband, |
18 | | Robert; her daughters, Yvonne Boyer, Doreen (Wesley) Reeves, |
19 | | and Loretta (Charles) Swingle; her grandchildren, Bridget, |
20 | | Ben, and Roxanne Boyer, Erin Reeves, Mary (Craig) Nelson, Jinah |
21 | | (Chris) Morris, and Keith Swingle; her great-granddaughter, |
22 | | Lexi Morris; and many nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, |
23 | | be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
3 | | Dorothy Marie Ralston, and extend our sincere condolences to |
4 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
5 | | further

6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Dorothy Ralston as an expression of |
8 | | our deepest sympathy.
