2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of William Howard "Bill" Huff of Urbana, who |
4 | | passed away on October 30, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Huff was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 29, |
6 | | 1922 to Howard and Elsie Huff; he graduated from Western High |
7 | | School in 1940 and worked at a series of jobs before landing at |
8 | | the Ford Automobile Factory Power House in Dearborn, Michigan; |
9 | | he was called up for active duty in 1942 and served as a |
10 | | Corporal in the 6th Amphibious Engineers Specialist Brigade; he |
11 | | returned to the United States in 1945 following his service and |
12 | | attended the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor; he graduated |
13 | | with a degree in elementary education in 1948 and a master's |
14 | | degree in library science in 1950; he married Mary Josefovich |
15 | | at the Little Country Church in Chicago on October 28, 1951; |
16 | | and

17 | | WHEREAS, Bill Huff began working as a librarian for |
18 | | Northwestern University in Evanston; he then worked for the |
19 | | University of Illinois-Chicago at Navy Pier before moving to |
20 | | Urbana in 1957 to work for the University of Illinois; he |
21 | | turned his trips to American Library Association meetings into |
22 | | family vacations and would often haul the family cross-county, |
23 | | stopping at numerous points along the route; he finished his |

1 | | career as the Assistant Director for Collection Development and |
2 | | Preservation with a title of Professor Emeritus; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Bill Huff enjoyed painting and traveling in |
4 | | retirement; he and his wife spent winters in their home in Port |
5 | | Orange, Florida and traveled the world; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Bill Huff and his wife were active members of the |
7 | | Unitarian Universalist Church; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Bill Huff was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, |
9 | | and his sisters, Catherine and Virginia; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Bill Huff is survived by his 4 sons and a |
11 | | daughter, Craig Huff (Debbie), Bryan Huff (Yan Liu), Glenn |
12 | | Huff, Dale Huff (Debra Book), and Cathy Demeroukas (Chris); his |
13 | | grandchildren, Aaron Huff, Jonathan Huff, Angela Cross |
14 | | (Justin), Nathan Huff (Kate Philbeck), Sophia Huff, Michelle |
15 | | Demeroukas-Fetterman (Michael), and Alex Demeroukas; and his 3 |
16 | | great-grandchildren, Tristan and Emily Cross and Magdalene |
17 | | Huff; therefore, be it

19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
20 | | William Howard "Bill" Huff, and extend our sincere condolences |
21 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
