2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Betty Ruth Williams of Springfield, who |
4 | | passed away on November 24, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Betty Williams was born on November 13, 1947 in |
6 | | Springfield; her parents were Earl and Betty (nee Brents) |
7 | | Douglas; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Betty Williams graduated from Lanphier High |
9 | | School; she retired from Illinois Bell/Ameritech after 30 years |
10 | | of service; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Betty Williams was a member of Pilgrim Rest |
12 | | Missionary Baptist Church, where she was very active with the |
13 | | Missionary Ministry; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Betty Williams was a pitcher for over 15 years for |
15 | | the Patterson Quick Cleaning Service Softball team; she was a |
16 | | former member of the Eastside Brick House Unit for Community |
17 | | Needs organization and was very active in making positive |
18 | | changes in the community; she was also a member of One In A |
19 | | Million and Eastside Pride; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Betty Williams loved her family, her music, |

1 | | sports, playing Bid Whist once a month with her friends and |
2 | | family, and her special relationship with her brother-in-law, |
3 | | Roy I. Williams, Sr., and her friend, John Porter, Sr.; and

4 | | WHEREAS, Betty Williams was preceded in death by her |
5 | | parents and her brothers, Fred Henry Douglas, Donnie Lewis |
6 | | Douglas, and Earl Douglas, Jr.; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Betty Williams is survived by her children, |
8 | | Danielle (Kess) Roberson and Erik (Haley) Williams, Sr.; her |
9 | | sisters, Patricia (Oscar) Patterson, Linda Douglas-Williams, |
10 | | and Kelly Douglas; her brothers, Ronald Douglas and Rickey |
11 | | (Sandra) Douglas, Sr.; her grandchildren, Cameron Jones, Kamya |
12 | | Williams, and Erik "EJ" Williams, Jr.; her aunts, Thelma |
13 | | Douglas and Hazel Douglas; her nieces, Maliyah Douglas, Breanna |
14 | | Douglas, Jennifer Joiner, and Shondra Burnett; her nephews, |
15 | | Rickey Douglas, Jr., Matthew Patterson, Ronald Black, Terrell |
16 | | Goins, Christopher Hawkins, and Marcus Burnett; her special |
17 | | nieces, Katara Simmons and Theiya Herrin; her special nephew, |
18 | | Rickey Simmons, Jr.; and her many cousins and friends; |

22 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Betty Ruth Williams; |
