|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Julian "Mike" Serzynski, who passed away |
4 | | on October 24, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was born on February 5, 1926 in |
6 | | North Chicago; his parents were Casimir and Mary Serzynski; he |
7 | | attended Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School and Waukegan High |
8 | | School; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski served his country in the United |
10 | | States Armed Forces during World War II and was honorably |
11 | | discharged in 1946; while serving, he was awarded the Victory |
12 | | Medal, the American Area Ribbon, and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon |
13 | | with one star; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was employed at US Steel, where |
15 | | he retired after 33 years in the tempering department; |
16 | | following his retirement, he worked in the garden shop at |
17 | | K-Mart in Waukegan; while there, he was awarded associate of |
18 | | the month and employee of the year; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was a member of St. Anastasia |
20 | | Church and volunteered there for 20 years, helping with bingo; |
21 | | he was also a member of the Holy Child Father's Club, the |

1 | | Waukegan Moose Club, American Legion Post 281, the VFW, St. |
2 | | Joe's Club of North Chicago, and the Swedish Glee Club; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf, |
4 | | and watching the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Browns; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was preceded in death by his |
6 | | wife, Anna (nee Bollmeyer); his parents; his brothers, John, |
7 | | Alex, Casimir, Stanley, Paul, Joseph, and Aloysius; and his |
8 | | sister, Dorothy Tutino; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski is survived by his children, Mary |
10 | | Katherine (Dave) Jouppi, Julie Anne (Richard) Zagorski, Paula |
11 | | Jean (Geoffrey) DeLucca, and Michael Henry; his grandchildren, |
12 | | Gregory (Kristin) Jouppi, Erin (Justin) Ranieri, Kristen |
13 | | Jouppi, James, Russell, Matthew, and Elijah Zagorski, and |
14 | | Nicholas DeLucca; his great-grandchildren, Anthony Joseph and |
15 | | Gabriella Judith Ranieri; and his brother, Peter Serzynski; |
16 | | therefore, be it

17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
19 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Julian "Mike" |
20 | | Serzynski; and be it further

21 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
