SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sherian Leona Presley, who passed away on November 4, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Sherian Presley was born on July 27, 1949 in Newport, Arkansas; her parents were Arthur and Gazetta Coburn; she married Leo Presley, Sr. on November 17, 1973; and

WHEREAS, Sherian Presley accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Newport, Arkansas; and

WHEREAS, Sherian Presley graduated from W. F. Branch High School in 1967, where she was a majorette, cheerleader, and basketball player; she furthered her education at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where she studied telecommunications; and

WHEREAS, Sherian Presley moved to the North Chicago area in 1969; she subsequently worked in many teaching, administration, and managerial positions at Carmen Buckner School, Abbott Labs, Honeywell, Baxter, Kodak, and Hostess; and

WHEREAS, Sherian Presley enjoyed shopping, watching game shows, casinos, decorating, bowling, traveling, and spending quality time with her family and friends; she also enjoyed good home-made food, nice jewelry, fashionable clothes, and shoes; and

WHEREAS, Sherian Presley was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Arthur (Pap) Coburn, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Sherian Presley is survived by her loving husband, Leo, Sr.; her son, Leo (Tay) Presley, Jr.; her stepson, Ransley Presley; her stepdaughter, Angelique Presley; her grandchildren, Chynia Cutrer, Camden Presley, and Carrington Presley; her mother, Gazetta (Cleo) Coburn Lee; her brother, Delbert Coburn; her sisters, Shadyne (Jerry) Brown, Arphlue Coburn, Kathy Robinson, and Angela (Randy) King; her half-brothers, Jimmy Coburn and Albert Coburn; her godchildren, Joey Harris, Jackie Harris, Michelle Evans, and Jaylen Johnson; and her many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Sherian Leona Presley; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sherian Presley as an expression of our sympathy.
