2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Theodore Carl "Papa Ted" Richter, who |
4 | | passed away on October 4, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Theodore Richter was born on February 7, 1941 and |
6 | | grew up in North Chicago; his parents were William and |
7 | | Genevieve (nee O'Dette) Richter; he graduated from North |
8 | | Chicago High School in 1960, where he excelled in football and |
9 | | wrestling; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, In his younger years, Theodore Richter |
11 | | volunteered for the North Chicago Fire Department; he |
12 | | subsequently owned Lakeland Bus Lines for many years; for the |
13 | | past 25 years, he was the owner of JR's Wrecker Services in |
14 | | Waukegan; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Theodore Richter enjoyed hunting, racing, |
16 | | snowmobiling, four wheeling, and collecting, racing, and |
17 | | working on cars; at Waukegan Speedway, he became known as the |
18 | | "Flying Fatman" and was the 1974 track champion; he was also a |
19 | | proud sponsor and driver at the Lake County Fair Demolition |
20 | | Derby for over 20 years; in his later years, his favorite place |
21 | | was his lake house in Stephenson, Michigan, where he spent time |
22 | | with his family and friends; and
