SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Geneva M. Nailing of Peoria, who passed
4away on November 1, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Geneva Nailing was born in Cairo on March 17, 1941
6to Milo and Sadie (nee Hansbro) Nailing; she graduated from
7Woodruff High School; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Geneva Nailing retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in
92003 after over 35 years of service; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Geneva Nailing served with many organizations in
11many capacities, such as Democratic Precinct Committee Person;
12Second Vice-President to the Democratic Women; Chairperson for
13Ecumenical Development for Church Women United; the National
14Organization for Women; the Veterans Committee; Chairperson
15for the Central Illinois Women Committee; the Citizen Action
16Policy Council; the Illinois Alliance of Retired Americans;
17(CHICA) Clean Air; Planned Parenthood's Board of Directors;
18Vice-President of the Red Hot Flutterbyes; and the United Auto
19Workers and Red Cross Phone Banking Drives, where she unloaded
20trucks for their food drives; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Geneva Nailing was pleased to work with Night Out

1Against Crime and enjoyed delivering the monthly Community Word
2Newspaper; she was well known for being a champion for the
3laborers of Peoria and her great love and fight for veterans'
4rights; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Geneva Nailing was preceded in death by her
6parents and one brother, Michael Simmons; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Geneva Nailing leaves to cherish her most precious
8memories her sister with whom she lived, Evangelist Twinkle
9Stuckey, and her nephews, whom she affectionately called and
10considered her grandsons, Chad and Chaz Stuckey; therefore, be
11it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Geneva M. Nailing, and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Geneva Nailing as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
