2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Robert M. Bestor of rural East Moline, |
4 | | who passed away on October 31, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Bestor was born in Geneseo on July 18, 1918 |
6 | | to Clyde and Verna Hornecker Bestor; he graduated from Geneseo |
7 | | High School and attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton, |
8 | | Missouri; he served as a First Lieutenant in the United States |
9 | | Marine Corp in the South Pacific during World War II; he |
10 | | married Irene Morgan in Pasadena, California on October 21, |
11 | | 1945; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Robert Bestor, along with his brother, Stan, owned |
13 | | and operated many businesses in and around Geneseo, including |
14 | | Bestor Brothers, an automotive dealership, and Geneseo Hotel, |
15 | | where they opened the Cellar Restaurant; they also developed |
16 | | many businesses on all 4 corners of the Geneseo exit of |
17 | | Interstate 80, including the Deck Gas & Oil and the Deck |
18 | | Restaurant & Motel, among others; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Robert Bestor enjoyed fishing, gardening, |
20 | | traveling, and working; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Robert Bestor was preceded in death by his wife, |
