SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dorothy A. Adams of McHenry, who passed
4away on October 21, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Adams was born in Summit on July 24, 1927
6to David and Katherine (nee Kunik) Van Ort; she married Albert
7A. Adams at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Summit on May 5,
81951; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dorothy Adams worked as office administrator for
10Adams Repair Shop and Adams Lawn & Leisure; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dorothy Adams was a member of St. John the Baptist
12Catholic Church in Johnsburg; she was also a member of the
13Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, St. John's Blessed Virgin
14Sodality, Polish Legion #188, and the McHenry Moose Auxiliary;
15she volunteered at the North Chicago Veterans Hospital, the
16McHenry Veterans Clinic, and was a charter member of the
17American Legion Girls State 1944, a program to teach young
18women responsible citizenship and love for God and country; she
19also served as a Brownie and Cub Scout leader; she enjoyed
20snowmobiling, bowling, and time with her family; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dorothy Adams was preceded in death by her

1husband, Albert A. Adams; her sister, Katherine Baron; and her
2brother, David Van Ort; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dorothy Adams is survived by her 6 children,
4Lawrence Adams, Gary (Julie) Adams, Linda (Tom) Tegtmeier, Kate
5Heald, John (Margaret) Adams, and Tim (Kellee) Adams; her 20
6grandchildren, Larry, Stephanie, Ian, Becky, Katy, Brian, Tom,
7Sarah, Emily, Kim, Christina, Jason, Carissa, Ryan, Vinny,
8Danny, Katie, Nicky, Scott, and Brittney; her 7
9great-grandchildren, Miles, Anderson, Tommy, Graham, Mary,
10Kendra, and Arnold; and her brother, Robert Van Ort; therefore,
11be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Dorothy A. Adams, and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Dorothy Adams as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
