SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Fox Lake Police Department Lieutenant
4Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, who passed away on September 1,
52015; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz was born on August 25, 1963
7in Libertyville; his parents were Joseph and Debbie (nee
8McLean) Gliniewicz; he married Melodie Resetar on February 18,
91989; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz graduated from Antioch
11Community High School; he subsequently earned his bachelor's
12and master's degrees from Kaplan University; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz proudly served in the
14United States Army from 1981 to 2007; during his service, he
15earned numerous service awards, including the Meritorious
16Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army
17Achievement Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement
18Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian
19Service Medal, the Basic Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault
20Badge, and the Drill Sergeant Badge; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz served on the Fox Lake

1Police Department since 1985; he worked on many different
2assignments with the Department, including canine officer,
3field training officer, and member of the SWAT team; he was
4promoted to Sergeant before attaining the rank of Lieutenant;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz was a member of Fox Lake
7Police Explorer Post 300 and he became head of the post in
81987; he was dedicated to the training of people ages 14 to 21
9to enter a career in law enforcement; he had huge success with
10the program, earning multiple awards and accolades in various
11State and national competitions; he implemented regional
12Explorer training events, including the Explorer SWAT Course,
13the Sniper Course, and the Explorer Basic Training Academy, and
14received international attention for all his hard work with the
15Post; during his time there, he saw hundreds of Explorers that
16he trained enter into law enforcement and military careers; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz was preceded in death by
18his father and his grandparents, Joe and Rosalie Gliniewicz;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz is survived by his wife of
2126 years, Mel; 4 sons, Joseph, Donald "D.J.", Jeffrey, and
22David; his mother; his stepmother, Lynn Gliniewicz; a brother,
23Michael; a half-brother, Donald (Debbie) Gliniewicz; 2

1stepbrothers, Eric and Shawn Gliniewicz; his many nieces and
2nephews; his mother-in-law, Terry (nee Otto) Resetar; a
3brother-in-law, William (Teresa) Resetar; and 2
4sisters-in-law, Roxanne (Jimmy) Brown and Michelle McDowell;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Lieutenant Charles
9Joseph Gliniewicz; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Lt. Charles Gliniewicz as an
12expression of our sympathy.
