2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Fox Lake Police Department Lieutenant |
4 | | Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, who passed away on September 1, |
5 | | 2015; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz was born on August 25, 1963 |
7 | | in Libertyville; his parents were Joseph and Debbie (nee |
8 | | McLean) Gliniewicz; he married Melodie Resetar on February 18, |
9 | | 1989; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz graduated from Antioch |
11 | | Community High School; he subsequently earned his bachelor's |
12 | | and master's degrees from Kaplan University; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz proudly served in the |
14 | | United States Army from 1981 to 2007; during his service, he |
15 | | earned numerous service awards, including the Meritorious |
16 | | Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army |
17 | | Achievement Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement |
18 | | Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian |
19 | | Service Medal, the Basic Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault |
20 | | Badge, and the Drill Sergeant Badge; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz served on the Fox Lake |
|

1 | | Police Department since 1985; he worked on many different |
2 | | assignments with the Department, including canine officer, |
3 | | field training officer, and member of the SWAT team; he was |
4 | | promoted to Sergeant before attaining the rank of Lieutenant; |
5 | | and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz was a member of Fox Lake |
7 | | Police Explorer Post 300 and he became head of the post in |
8 | | 1987; he was dedicated to the training of people ages 14 to 21 |
9 | | to enter a career in law enforcement; he had huge success with |
10 | | the program, earning multiple awards and accolades in various |
11 | | State and national competitions; he implemented regional |
12 | | Explorer training events, including the Explorer SWAT Course, |
13 | | the Sniper Course, and the Explorer Basic Training Academy, and |
14 | | received international attention for all his hard work with the |
15 | | Post; during his time there, he saw hundreds of Explorers that |
16 | | he trained enter into law enforcement and military careers; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz was preceded in death by |
18 | | his father and his grandparents, Joe and Rosalie Gliniewicz; |
19 | | and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Lt. Charles Gliniewicz is survived by his wife of |
21 | | 26 years, Mel; 4 sons, Joseph, Donald "D.J.", Jeffrey, and |
22 | | David; his mother; his stepmother, Lynn Gliniewicz; a brother, |
23 | | Michael; a half-brother, Donald (Debbie) Gliniewicz; 2 |

1 | | stepbrothers, Eric and Shawn Gliniewicz; his many nieces and |
2 | | nephews; his mother-in-law, Terry (nee Otto) Resetar; a |
3 | | brother-in-law, William (Teresa) Resetar; and 2 |
4 | | sisters-in-law, Roxanne (Jimmy) Brown and Michelle McDowell; |
5 | | therefore, be it

6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
8 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Lieutenant Charles |
9 | | Joseph Gliniewicz; and be it further

10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
11 | | presented to the family of Lt. Charles Gliniewicz as an |
12 | | expression of our sympathy.
