2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Tim Stewart of Carol Stream, who passed |
4 | | away on August 13, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Tim Stewart was born in 1938; he grew up in East |
6 | | St. Louis, where as a teen, he studied classical trombone with |
7 | | Dorothy Ziegler, first trombonist
with the St. Louis Symphony; |
8 | | he eventually transitioned into Jazz; he moved to Chicago in |
9 | | 1980 and played with the Celebration Dixieland Jazz Band before |
10 | | joining the Banjo Buddies Dixieland Band in
1985; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Tim Stewart played lead trombone for the Banjo |
12 | | Buddies Dixieland Band, driving the band's distinctive upbeat |
13 | | sound with his mastery on the trombone; he trained classically
|
14 | | and brought that high level of musicianship to the band; the |
15 | | band played nearly every festival and
parade in the suburbs; |
16 | | they were also a familiar sight at the United Center during |
17 | | Chicago Bulls' and Blackhawks' games and at U.S. Cellular Field
|
18 | | during White Sox games and Wrigley Field for Cubs' games; the |
19 | | band played approximately 250 shows a year; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Tim Stewart also did many of the band's |
21 | | arrangements; they played "Hail to the Chief" for several
|
22 | | presidents, including George H.W. Bush, Gerald Ford, and Ronald
