SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Stanley E. "Stan" Smith of Rock Island, 
4who passed away on August 8, 2015; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Stanley Smith was born on September 3, 1933 in 
6Miles, Iowa; his parents were Herbert and Gertrude Smith; he 
7married Linda Jacobs on February 22, 1956; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Stanley Smith joined the United States Air Force 
9in 1953, where he served as a radar technician; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Stanley Smith retired from Alcoa on April 29, 1994 
11after 30 years of service on the hotline; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Stanley Smith was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals 
13fan; he also enjoyed riding his bike, fishing with his son 
14Richard, and having coffee with his buddies he met at the Rock 
15Island Hy-Vee and Hardees; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Stanley Smith was preceded in death by his 
17parents; a brother; and 3 sisters; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Stanley Smith is survived by his wife, Linda; 2 
19sons, Richard and David Smith; and a daughter, Brenda (Tom)

1Neer; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
4family and friends, mourn the passing of Stanley E. "Stan" 
5Smith; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Stanley Smith as an expression of 
8our sympathy.
