2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Pauline Briney of Findlay, who passed |
4 | | away on July 25, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Pauline Briney was born in Sullivan on September |
6 | | 25, 1924 to Ora and Dessie Colclasure; she attended Sullivan |
7 | | public schools and then became a licensed beautician; in her |
8 | | early adult life, she obtained her G.E.D. and then her real |
9 | | estate license; she married Ronald Marcus "Bud" Briney on May |
10 | | 3, 1941 in St. Charles, Missouri; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Pauline Briney was a contributing correspondent |
12 | | for several local newspapers, including the Findlay Enterprise |
13 | | (writing the column "Methinks"), the Moultrie County News, and |
14 | | the Shelby County News; she wrote poetry and authored and |
15 | | published several essays and several local history and family |
16 | | history books; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Pauline Briney was a staunch Democrat and was |
18 | | passionate about her town, Findlay; she was elected mayor for 2 |
19 | | terms; she worked endlessly as mayor to make Findlay and the |
20 | | Findlay area all it could be; she was instrumental in the |
21 | | initial effort to launch the Eagle Creek Resort and its |
22 | | rebirth; she was a member of Faith Covenant Church and the |
