| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Donna V. Mitchell of McHenry, who passed |
| 4 | | away on July 14, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Donna Mitchell was born in Elkhart, Indiana on |
| 6 | | February 20, 1933 to Alexander and Veronica (nee Galarowicz) |
| 7 | | MacLean and was raised in Dover, Ohio and later Chicago; she |
| 8 | | married William James Mitchell, Jr. in 1951 and they settled in |
| 9 | | Chicago; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Donna Mitchell and her husband moved to Sunnyside |
| 11 | | in 1971, where she worked as a full-time school bus driver for |
| 12 | | Districts 15 and 156 in McHenry; she then entered the law |
| 13 | | enforcement field and served as the Village of Sunnyside Police |
| 14 | | Chief for 8 years; after her stint in law enforcement, she |
| 15 | | returned to the school district as a bus driver, where she |
| 16 | | enjoyed a career totaling over 30 years of service; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Donna Mitchell enjoyed playing bingo, doing |
| 18 | | pencil drawings, and most of all, being a doting grandmother |
| 19 | | and great-grandmother; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Donna Mitchell was preceded in death by her |
| 21 | | parents; her husband, William James Mitchell, Jr.; her twin |
|

| 1 | | brother, Donald; her other brothers, Earl, James, Peter, Frank, |
| 2 | | and Gerald MacLean; and her sisters, June Viverito, Loretta |
| 3 | | Anderson, and Veronica Forstrom; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Donna Mitchell is survived by her 5 children, |
| 5 | | Donna "Cathie" (Arthur) Keefer, Rikki (Lisa) Mitchell, Karen |
| 6 | | (James) Walker, William (Mandy) Mitchell, and Steven (Carol) |
| 7 | | Kohon; her 18 grandchildren, Vern Keefer, Tim (Kim) Keefer, Tom |
| 8 | | (Mandy) Keefer, Michelle (Darren Culvey) Lender, Tammy (Ken) |
| 9 | | Peltier, Jennifer (Randall) Busack, Melisa Fenske, Angie |
| 10 | | (Tani) Ojeda, Jacquelinn (Frank Visconti) Mitchell, Yavon |
| 11 | | Walker, Jimi Walker, William Mitchell, IV, Alexander Mitchell, |
| 12 | | Alexis Mitchell, Jessica Mitchell, and Riley Mitchell; and many |
| 13 | | great-grandchildren who called her "GG"; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 16 | | Donna V. Mitchell, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
| 17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
| 18 | | further
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of Donna Mitchell as an expression of |
| 21 | | our deepest sympathy.
