2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of James L. Hanson of Batavia, who passed |
4 | | away on June 4, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, James Hanson was born in Geneva on October 26, |
6 | | 1925 to Claude and Marguerite (nee Wagner) Hanson; he graduated |
7 | | as class valedictorian from Batavia High School in 1943 and |
8 | | received degrees from Lawrence College and the University of |
9 | | Illinois; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, For many years, James Hanson was an educator in |
11 | | the West Aurora schools, teaching social studies to junior high |
12 | | school students; he served as Superintendent of the Kane County |
13 | | Regional Office of Education for 12 years from 1975 to 1987; he |
14 | | was elected a Batavia City Alderman in 1961, serving for 16 |
15 | | years and acting as Chairman of the Planning, Zoning, and |
16 | | Annexation Committee; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, James Hanson volunteered for local |
18 | | service agencies that helped those in need; he was named the |
19 | | City of Batavia's Citizen of the Year in 2013 and was inducted |
20 | | into the Batavia Public Schools Hall of Honor; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, James Hanson was an avid supporter of the Batavia |
