SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thaddeus C. "Ted" Tyska, who passed away
4on May 12, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ted Tyska was born in Chicago on August 15, 1923
6to Francis and Harriet (nee Dobkowski) Tyska; he attended
7Catholic grade school and graduated from Wells High School,
8lettering in swimming (even swimming in the Chicago River); he
9joined the United States Army Air Corps and became a field
10lineman in the 342nd infantry, serving in France, Austria, and
11Germany; he received a Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge
12among other ribbons and medals; he returned home and after a
13short time went back to serving his country in the Pacific
14Theater in the Phillipines; he was discharged as a Private
15First Class in March of 1946; he married Therese Mary Adamski
16on November 22, 1947 at St. Fidelis Church in Chicago; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ted Tyska attended the University of South Dakota
18at Vermillion, studying electrical engineering; he graduated
19from DeVry Technical Institute and went on to work at the Crane
20Company in the foundry and as an electrician working to start
21the union; he became a federal employee in the General Services
22Administration elevator division where he developed the
23Fireman's Code for elevators; he was a member of the

1Electrician's Union and the Federal Employees Union; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Ted Tyska enjoyed swimming at the Chicago and
3Crystal Lake YMCA, the Holiday Inn Club One, and the Health
4Bridge; he also enjoyed dancing, cooking, and pointing out
5nature; he also enjoyed watching TV programs about politics,
6nature, science, baseball, and golf; he was a member of the
7Church of Holy Apostles and felt that family was truly
8important; he was a member of the American Legion; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ted Tyska was preceded in death by his wife,
10Therese; his parents; his brothers, Casimer and Stan; his
11sister-in-law, Dorothy; and his brother-in-law, Richard Kelly;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ted Tyska is survived by his children, Barbara,
14Dan (Pat), Jim (Theresa), and Tom (Vanessa) Tyska; his
15brothers, Edwin (Carol), Frank (Mary), and Chet (Kathy) Tyska;
16his sister, Maryann Kelly; his sister-in-law, Peg Tyska; and
17many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews,
18great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Thaddeus C. "Ted" Tyska, and extend our sincere condolences to
22his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
