3 | | learn of the death of David P. "Dave" Benton of Champaign, who |
4 | | passed away on May 26, 2015; and

5 | | WHEREAS, Dave Benton was born in Buffalo, New York on |
6 | | September 19, 1962 to Donald and Anna Ricci Benton; he was |
7 | | raised in Addison and received his bachelor's degree in |
8 | | broadcast news from Northern Illinois University; he married |
9 | | Teresa "Terri" Ware on April 26, 1986 in DeKalb; and

10 | | WHEREAS, Dave Benton worked in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Wausau, |
11 | | Wisconsin; and Minot, North Dakota; he joined WCIA3 in 2005; |
12 | | and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Dave Benton was named "Most Beloved TV |
14 | | Personality" in 1999; he received a Midwest Broadcast |
15 | | Journalists Association (MBJA, formerly the NBNA) first-place |
16 | | documentary award in 2003 and a MBJA Eric Sevareid Award of |
17 | | Merit for general reporting; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Dave Benton anchored and produced the "Best Medium |
19 | | Market Public Affairs Program" according to the Illinois |
20 | | Broadcasters Association for his Crime Stoppers specials; he |
21 | | received the FBI Director's Community Leadership Award in 2011; |
